3.2 Calendar

The Calendar at BuckeyePlanet can be accessed from a link on the black navigation bar at the top of most pages (Figure 1, #9). That will take you to the following screen.

The Calendar feature at BuckeyePlanet (Figure 2) is shown above in all 3 views (Daily #1, Weekly #9 and Monthly #10). Some information you see on the Calendar is automatically added from Member Profiles ... like Birthdays. Other information you find here is added by BuckeyePlanet members who have taken the time to enter information such as the Ohio State Athletic calendar of events or general Holidays.

The calendar has both a Public and a Private component (Figure 2, #1 shows which calendar you are viewing). So not only can you see a calendar that ALL BuckeyePlanet members see (Public), you can add your own personal events to a calendar that only you can access (Private). You switch between the Public and Private calendars with the "Calendar Jump" (Figure 2, #8).

You may add events as a "Single, All Day Event" (one day only), a "Ranged Event" (occurs over a series of days), or a "Reaccuring Event" (happens on a reacurring basis ... yearly, monthly, etc.). You add events by using a pull-down menu (Figure 2, #4) or by one of the quick links provided at the bottom of the calendar (Figure 2, #6). Once an event is added you can edit, delete or move that event. Simply click on the event in question and a new screen will appear detailing the event and showing you a pull-down menu with options for altering the event. You may even request a reminder for events. The reminder can be set 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, or 18 hours before, or 1, 2, or 3 days before the event.

If you would like to view different calendar dates, you simply enter those into the "Jump to ..." box found near the bottom of each calendar (Figure 2, #7). Additionally, you can use the "Show Today" link (Figure 2, #2) to return to today's calendar view from other dates on the calendar. The "Calendar Mode" link (Figure 2, #3) lets you jump between daily, monthly and yearly calendar views.
