3.4 Search

The Search function at BuckeyePlanet can be accessed from a link on the black navigation bar at the top of most pages (Figure 1, #12). Clicking that link will activate the following pull-down menu.

You may search all BuckeyePlanet forums from this one location. Your may search by posts (Figure 2, #1), titles (Figure 2, #2), or usernames (Figure 2, #3). Search strings MUST be 3 or more characters in length, and you may only perform a search every 20 seconds.
You may search for "Awarded" posts at BuckeyePlanet (Figure 2, #5). This isn't really a search, but a listing of the Awarded posts in chronological order. Awarded posts are those that were deemed worthy of extra recognition by one of the staff members at BuckeyePlanet. There are given a special graphic to signify a post that is truly special.
Clicking on the "Advanced Search" link (Figure 2, #5) will bring up a new screen (Figure 3) ...

Key word in posts or thread titles (Figure 3, #1)
Usernames (partial or exact) (Figure 3, #2)
You may limit your search to ...
Threads with "X" number of replies (Figure 3, #4)
Within a range of dates (Figure 3, #5)
Individual Forums (Figure 3, #4)
You may list the results as ...
Threads or Posts (Figure #3, 7)
You may sort the results by a variety of means (Figure #3, 6)
3.4.1 Search Forums

The Search Forum function (Figure 4, #1) is very similar to the regular search function. The only real difference is that the search is only performed on the forum you are currently browsing. Type your search criteria into the space provided (Figure 4, #2) and press the "go" button. There is also a link to the Advanced Search feature (Figure 4, #3). That takes you to the Advanced search screen listed above in Figure 3.
