I was gonna attribute it to the fact you can't tackle when you're looking at the back of the opponents jersey..

Hard to see the back of the WR's jersey when you're looking in the backfield instead...

I'm sure there are guys on this site that have damn good wheels... and know there are times they screwed up... but their wheels covered their ass and they were able to cover up their screw up
but on the flipside.. there are guys on this site that felt they had very good skills but that damn kid with shitty skills just ran by your butt and wasn't anything you could do about it
BTW.. only reason I started this thread was because of Larry Grant thread.. I was curious to see what folks felt... good stuff... both ways... where's 21?
fastest kid (WR & DB) I ever knew about at Akron U... had average skills... and overall he was average on his best day... so guys voting skills... are validated... but you can't tackle what you can't catch too...

Exactly! It also depends on what position the individual is slotted to play. Is it necessary for a nose tackle to have great speed. No, his job is to clog up the middle. It would be nice for the guy to have get speed and get after the QB, but don't confuse speed with quickness.
Secondly, it depends on what sport you are discussing. Speed is not as necessary (in most positions) in Baseball as it is in Football. Skill sets for a catcher is far more important that speed in this equation.
