Jayson Gwinn would have been a star at Ohio State. I can remember him starting for an injured Randall Brown against Indiana as a redshirt freshman in 1993 and dominating. Ohio State would have the trio of Vrabel, Finkes, and Gwinn at DE for 3 more years. RIP Humphries and Gwinn.

I was over seas when Gwinn left us and never knew about til much later.

The one that really got me was the loss of Ricky Matter. Would he have been a Buckeye? One way or another I think he would have. And his sister having to play through the pain of that loss. She was solid as a rock in the public, one can only imagine how she suffered to keep it together.

Tressel also gave Dru's family his Ohio State jersey that is now in the trophy case at Rogers High School.

Wow. I never heard that.

I am not naive enough to think other coaches out there would not have made a similar move, but that does not stop me from taking pride in the fact that tOSU has such a class act as Tressel. With him it seems that the people are what matters, not the wins. Like Woody, Tressel is devoted to tOSU players deeply- not just as athletes, but as young men. I would take Tressel over any other coach in the country.

Buckeye Nation is such an awesome thing. Once a Buckeye in heart, spirit, and/or name always a Buckeye. RIP Dru, Jason, & Ricky. Oh what could have been?
