Well, JT already wrapped up #3. If he could somehow manage to get #1 and #2...wow!

One of the things I have been thinking about a bit recently is the snowball effect in recruiting and the inter-relationships between recruit's decisions.
For example, I really think that getting Sweat helps our chances with both Pryor and Hale because they see a top recruit from the same general area (Western PA) going to tOSU. For this reason, I think if Pryor commits to tOSU also, it increases our chances with Hale who would see another bigtime guy from his area commiting and be slightly more likely to come to OSU.
In addition, I think that a commit from Jenkins makes it more likely that Pryor comes here because it further reinforces the fact that this O line class will be special. Similarly, if Pryor hops on board before Jenkins makes his decision, it could have a positive impact on Jenkins who would see further proof that he could be a part of a really special class at OSU. In particular, this year's offensive class coming together seems to have a lot of great players who want badly to play with other great players.

This would be good news for Penn State because it would also mean they could expect to get Beachum and McCarthy to join Zordich.
Or maybe this "theory" is just a lot of wishful thinking, and kids just make their own decisions.

Every kid will make a choice based upon what they think is best for them. But, I don't think you can discount recruiting momentum, friendships and relationships between recruits, relationships between parents of recruits, etc.
As far as one school building up a bit of recruiting momentum in a particular area, it's not just a theory, as it happens somewhat often. In the Big 10 alone you can look at:
- PSU brought in their best class in years based largely on the strength of their efforts in Maryland a few years ago. Guys followed the lead of Derrick Williams the year before and a big group of kids from Maryland who knew each other all ended up at Penn St. together (Antonio Logan-El, AJ Wallace, etc.).
- Iowa brought in one of their all time highest ranked recruiting classes a few years ago when a bunch of kids from Illinois who all knew each other all ended up there (Moeaki, Richardson, Doering, the QB whose name I can't remember).
- Illinois was able to get one of their best classes ever when they got a bunch of in-state guys who were friends to stay home together (Martez Wilson, Josh Brent, the big RB, etc.).

Also, just an FYI, but it seems like McCarthy is all but signed sealed and delivered to ND. And I wouldn't be surprised to see Beachum get an offer from the Buckeyes (who would probably have to then be considered the favorite) relatively soon due to the Bucks missing out on Zordich.

PSU is taking a beating in-state. Just look at the Top 11 kids from PA, there is a likely possiblity that not ONE of them will wind up at PSU.
Terrelle Pryor- PSU has a chance, but how good is anyones guess
Shayne Hale- no chance at all
John Baldwin- no chance all
Andrew Sweat- no chance, committed to OSU
Luke Nix- no chance, basically a Pitt commit
Nick Moody- no chance, committed to FSU
AJ Alexander- no chance, committed to FSU
Christian Wilson- no chance, he's dropped them
Jarred Holley- small chance, but if/when ND offers it's likely over
Vaughn Carraway- small chance, but Michigan is the heavy favorite
Hubie Graham- no chance at all, he's looking at Pitt and OOS schools
That right there is basically Scout.com's PA Top 11, and PSU's best shot is at Pryor. Who is ND going to land to stop them from offering Holley, and quite frankly they need all the DB help they can get and then some. Carraway is considering PSU but they haven't offered him yet and many UM people feel like he's there's. Very good odds that PSU doesn't wind up with even ONE kid in the Top 11 of the entire state.

Agreed, Penn St. is holding onto Pa. talent this year the way Michigan did last year.

ND is setting themselves up to take in one of the top DB classes in the nation, with the possibility of landing 3 of these 4 4*'s: Rivals 100 prospect Robert Blanton is a lock (His father posts on IrishIllustrated and has said he'll commit shortly after his visit this month). They lead for Jamoris Slaughter (Offers from LSU, Georgia, Michigan, Oklahoma, Alabama), are in Dan McCarthy's top 2 (Offers from LSU, Oklahoma, Ohio State, PSU, Michigan), are in Jeremy Brown's top 2 (Offers from UF, Miami, LSU, Georgia, Tennessee, and others).
I have been Jared Holley's biggest fan on II, begging for his offer but it sounds like he doesn't fit the mold of the bigger, more phyiscal DB's Corwin Brown is looking for in his defense. He'll most likely end up at Michigan if no ND offer.
