His arguments were completely without merit. As if the fact that they got one legacy and a bunch of kids OSU didn't offer from Ohio was somehow better than OSU grabbing the top player in the state of PA 2 years running, including one that all of the PA observers agree is probably the best HS prospect ever. Seriously, I could care less if PSU filled half its roster with guys like Andrew Dailey. We will keep getting whoever we want in Ohio and take some of the cream of the crop in PA too.

Beat OSU in Columbus once and then maybe you could put some sort of argument together about out recruiting OSU. Until then, shush.

I couldn't find the actual Scout PA rankings so I just sorted the PA recruit database which ranks in order of stars and then position rank. Anyways, PA had 36 Scout 3 star recruits last year. PSU got exactly FOUR of those 36 - 4star Yanich, 4 star Stankiewitch, 4star Wedderburn, and 3star Pete Massaro. Meanwhile Pitt pulled in 12 of those 36 including the likes of 5stars Hale, Nix and Baldwin. Meanwhile player like Pryor, Sweat, Wilson and Beal headed out of state. How can you pretend like this is no big deal. In 2007 OSU lost Martin to Tenn. and everyone went nuts because we lost ONE guy. That year we still pulled in 7 of the top 11 in the state per Scout, and the other 3 (Dailey, Jeremiah, Mabin) didn't have offers iirc. The PA recruiting class that Pitt had last year is the type of class PSU is supposed to be pulling in, not vice versa. But wait, everything is ok because you have some OH players on your roster who TOSU never offered (i know, i know...we offered Zordich) - all is well! I am pretty sure the concensus on this board is that we WANT PSU to recuirt PA better - I guess for some the first step to fixing the problem is realizng that you have one in the first place.

Couple of things I think should be pointed out to current and future PSU trolls:

#1:
PSU's B10 record this century
2007: 4-4
2006: 5-3
2005: 7-1
2004: 2-6
2003: 1-7
2002: 5-3
2001: 4-4
2000: 4-4

#2
Thats good for 6th in the B10 during that time behind OSU, scUM, Iowa, Wisconsin and Purdue and its been a while since I took statictics but I believe they would call the data from 2005 an outlier.

#3
PSU vs OSU and scUM this century: 2-12, the two wins were by a total of 9 points.

I like to think that, god forbid, we ever sank to PSU's level I'd have just a little bit more sense than to go thumping my chest about recruiting.

I'm just wondering if anybody has a list of 2010 PA kids who are OSU quality or have OSU interest.

One player to keep an eye on could be Trinity DE Kenny Wilkins...same HS as Sweat/Yancich and showed well (along with Jamel Turner) among the underclassmen at the Scout combine in Pittsburgh. Likes Florida State and Penn State and is cousins with former ND RB/LB Travis Thomas.

Corey Brown is a good looking RB from O'Hara but my understanding is that PSU is the early favorite there.

WR Alex Kenny will probably be the fastest player in the state but he is from State College so you'd have to think he gets an early PSU offer.

Je'Ron Stokes' younger brother Malik already has an offer from Tenessee.

McKees Rocks has a good young QB in Paul Jones. 6-3 205 and Lichtenfels thinks he could be the top player in the state.

ND's Steve Paskorz has a younger brother named Jordan who could be one of the top DLs in the state next year.

Dakota Royer from Manheim Central will be another heavily recruited DL. Another one with a great showing at the Ultimate 100 camp.

Miles Dieffenbach is an OL from the Pittsburgh area who already measures around 6-5 270 and showed well at the Ultimate 100 combine in New Jersey.

Woodland Hills DB Quinton Pitts is likely to some decent offers come 9/1...WVU, Pitt, Rutgers and Maryland are the most likely to offer early.

Western Pa. remains a recruiting hotbed
By The Tribune-Review
Sunday, August 24, 2008

Quote:
Exactly where Pennsylvania ranks among top recruiting hotspots such as Florida, California, Texas, Louisiana, Ohio and Georgia, is open to debate.
"We're probably sixth in the country," said Earl Ceh, a former head coach at Bellevue, Fox Chapel and North Hills. "But we sure have a lot of great talent."

Western Pennsylvania high schools are located in prime recruiting territory - minutes from Pitt and close enough to West Virginia, Penn State and Ohio State that all four major programs claim the WPIAL as home turf.

"We always put a lot of time and effort into (recruiting) western Pennsylvania," Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said. "It's great football."
Quote:
Ohio State's Tressel would agree. He is riding a wave of success in recruiting WPIAL talent after landing two highly-rated players in 2008 - Pryor and Trinity linebacker Andrew Sweat. Three more WPIAL players have made verbal commitments to the Buckeyes for 2009 - Jeannette running back Jordan Hall, Gateway linebacker Dorian Bell and wide receiver Corey Brown.
