Recruiting Bias
Simple question,
Do you think that all the major scout associations ex. scout,rivals,super prep have a bias on how the players are rated across the country. It seems like most of the midwest/ohio players are not rated as high as most of the players around the country. Though i know that this doesnt mean anything it still annoys the [censored] out of me. tOSU seems to pump out pros just as much as an USC,UF,UM but the players they do make into pros are not in as high of regard as the players that go to other schools.

I've heard this is a "down" year for Ohio talent (in terms of depth, that is the top 10 are still very very good, but the next 10 aren't as good as year's past. (And I'm just using the number 10, it's not a "real" line somewhere))
I'd say the "bias" is more noticeable when a recruit commits and someone else magically becomes the "#1 RB in the Nation!!!" Or some stuff.. and it's a Bias towards making money, not region.

the fact is that those serivces are there to do two things...bring recruiting info to the mainstream and make money. what is more interesting? an update from the #1 RB who has been committed to the same school for 6 months or an update from the NEW #1 RB who is announcing on Signing Day. I think Rivals tends to show their bias more towards kids who commit early, whereas Scout seems to show their bias towards kids who do not participate at Scout-sponsored camps.

There also may be a certain bias to certain school (Bell Glades, Long Beach Poly, and yes even Glenville). If a school has a history of producing talents recruits, then IMO the recruiting services look at those schools and may give more attention to these guys while rating a mid-level D1 guy higher then what he really should be.

Bias in recruiting rankings? Certainly. Regional, perhaps - as one service might have better scouting in one region than another. Bias in terms of pumping the next best can't miss sub 4.3 speed freak of nature (who hasn't committed to a school) absolutely.
