Bingo. If any response was needed it would have been simply to say that ND does not participate in negative recruiting. End of sentence.
To go further and speculate on the motives of a someone 30 years your junior is at best in poor taste.
This reminds me somewhat of the way LLLoyd reacted to the 'sniffing incident' at
OSU. He had reason to be ticked, but it was a lose-lose for him to go beyond a minimal response. And when he brought it up again before last years game I knew Michigan was in trouble.
I have never felt the need to go on someone else's board and defend Jim Tressel and can't imagine I ever will.
That Weiss behaves the way he does is not terribly surprising our out of character for a football coach. But Notre Dame fans can not go on both defending him and also saying ND is just a little bit better than your average bear.
