Ken Whisenhunt doesn't have just one "Turk" on patrol as most NFL head coaches do. The Cardinals' first-year coach revealed that he has a couple of them on staff. And part of their job this time of year isn't a pleasant one.

Though they have several other responsibilities, they are the deputies of depression, the men who deliver the stinging message that every guy on the bubble dreads: "Uh, Coach wants to see you in his office. . . . Oh, and bring your playbook."

Linebacker Buster Davis of Florida State, the team's third-round pick this year, was cornered by a "Turk" in one of the more notable cuts among the 21 players released Friday.

Davis became the club's highest draft pick to be cut during his rookie season since defensive lineman Darwin Walker, a third-rounder in 2000. After signing Davis to a three-year, $1.7 million deal, the Cardinals will be on the hook for his $610,000 signing bonus.

I hope he saves as much as possible of that 600,000+ signing bonus. Having a head start in life with that much money can open your horizon if you invest it properly. But alas, so many of these fringe players blow it.

Anybody remember the poster know as buster davis. I think he was later reincarnated into retsub sivad or something like that after he was booted.

Remember the stories that joker made up about recruits having dinner at Tressel's. Oh the joy I found in others that read his BS and bought it hook line and sinker. Good Times.

They offered Davis the chance to be on the practice squad, but, he turned it down. I was excited about Buster, apparently he bombed training camp. They ended up picking up another cut third rounder in Quinten Moses, who the Raiders cut in favor of Jay Richardson.

He was a good player his senior year at FSU, definitely not a guy who threw away his college career despite not making it in the NFL. Thats just life tho.
