FSU's Davis almost went to Ohio State

<!-- ARTICLE BODY TEXT --><!-- ARTICLE PARAGRAPH ITEMS --> Buster Davis nearly chose Ohio State instead of FSU. He vividly remembers his visit to Columbus the weekend of Dec. 10, 2001, and hanging out with fellow recruit Maurice Clarett.
"I don't know what it was about him, but from the first time we met one another, we just clicked," Davis said. "I don't know what happened now."
Clarett was arrested again last Wednesday with four loaded weapons and wearing a bullet-proof vest. He's been ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation before standing trial on a separate aggravated robbery charge.
Clarett led the Buckeyes to the national championship as a freshman in 2002 before his career and life spiraled out of control.
"Maybe he was misguided," said Davis, who didn't keep in touch with Clarett after heading to FSU. "I hope he gets himself back on track, and hopefully maybe he can try to find a way to have some kind of career."
No regrets: Fifth-year senior tailback Lorenzo Booker insists he has no regrets about passing up the chance to play for USC, which won back-to-back national championships before falling to Texas in the title game last season.
Booker, who's from Oxnard, Calif., said USC's 10-6 loss to Utah in the Las Vegas Bowl in 2001 weighed heavily in his decision.
"When you have 1 yard rushing in the Las Vegas Bowl, I'm sorry," Booker said. "I don't care how close it is. I'm not going."
Of course, the Seminoles ranked 109th nationally in rushing last season and USC running back Reggie Bush won the Heisman Trophy. Booker admitted FSU's rushing totals would have made him think twice had he been making his decision in 2006.
"It would have made a difference, sure," said Booker, who rushed for 552 yards last season, giving him 1,773 for his career. "As a running back, you want to know that you're going to be able to help the team. It's not from a selfish standpoint. If we went 11-1, it wouldn't have been a problem."
Injury update: Redshirt freshman tight end Charlie Graham wore a protective boot on his right ankle Sunday. He's unsure how long he'll be sidelined.
"It's just a sprain," Graham said. "I have to take an MRI (today) to make sure everything is copacetic."
