Don't know how it goes in Ohio, but in Michigan I'm always weary of the star in-state kid who says he's going to take his time yet tells the home-state school he's coming time after time, even maybe silently commits, and recruits others to come join him. Usually when that happens it turns out not so good for Michigan (Ronald Johnson, Dionte Allen, Joe Barksdale this year- Charles Rogers in the recent past). Seems like the only one of those that worked out well for us was LaMarr Woodley. Every other national type in-state recruit (off the top of my head- Boubacar Cissoko, Kevin Grady, Brandon Graham, Terrance Taylor, Antonio Bass) we've locked up pretty early.

Until this year (actually during most of this year)... the UM fan sentiment was exactly the opposite of what you are claming. "UM never loses in-state kids"... "others have drawn out their recruitment and taken visits"... I can't remember the examples, but there were more than just woodley. These weren't the ones mentioned, but Bass & Jackson committed late in the process per scout..

Who is Jackson? Jerome Jackson? He committed publicly a presser at Saginaw HS on NSD- as did Woodley (his HS teammate) and other teammates who signed LOI's, but he wasn't an elite prospect by any stretch of the imagination. Jackson committed to Michigan several times in private but was encouraged to hold off the announcement by his coach and announce his committment at the presser with his teammates.

Yeah, because Joe Barksdale was recruiting others to join him at Michigan...
Here's my suggestion on what you should be weary of...another 6-8 300 pounder at LT that's gonna pancake Michigan's overrated defensive linemen.

Barksdale didn't recruit other players to Michigan like say Dionte Allen, but he DID give them a silent verbal early on.
If you are referring to Orlando Pace being the original 6'8, 300 pound LT who pancaked Michigan's overrated defensive lineman, well Pace went 1-2 against Michigan as a starter. For all I care Adams can pancake all of the overrated Michigan DL he wants if he goes 1-2 against Michigan as a starter.

It was stated here (by uf maybe) that Barksdale also verballed to OSU 2 or 3 times. I don't think he would be a good example.

And the 2008 recruiting season is off and running. A split thread, in less than two weeks after the 2007 signing day, possibly a new record.

Actually, I was alluding to the 6-8 giants on the left side of our line that had your DL on its behind quite a few times...
