2. Ohio State

The Buckeyes have put together an impressive class built on early commitments. Ohio State has commitments from two five-star recruits and 15 four-star players. Once again, the Buckeyes did a great job in their backyard, then reached out to familiar areas in Michigan and Florida for more success.
Still on the board: Marcus Hall, Darren Myles, Frankie Telfort.

No mention of Marlon Brown. I guess even rivals has a feeling this kid is going to be in the SEC. Anyone else that might belong on that list? From what I've read on these forums Tressel might be looking for another addition to the secondary.

Since we only have one more scholarship to give, provided that Wilson comes back, I think it's safe to say that Hall will be the only remaining uncommitted prospect getting a LOI on signing day.

Big Ten teams are now allowed to oversign, so worrying about a precise number of available scholarships is a bit of a moot point. At least one player will leave the program between now and the start of the season-- it happens every year.

and if I remember correctly De'Andrea was a 5 star recruit. That's why I pay no attention to recruiting class rankings. You will always have "great" recruits that don't pan out and "average" prospects that end up All-Americans.

D'Andrea was really starting to play well his sophmore year before blowing up his shoulder and then his knee, iirc...regardless he did not pan out but not for lack of talent imo

Agreed.... probably a bad example. Point was that there are always guys that come in and don't live up to expectations and and some that come in and achieve things they weren't expected to.

Also some sites give a guy 4 stars... same guy on a different site 5 stars. All of it is just opinion.

No problem, i actually agree with your point about the star system. I just get tired of hearing D'Andrea's name in reference to busts. He worked his butt off but just could not get healthy and back onto the field.

GO BUCKS!!

I was trying to make a joke. The "AJ Hawk was a 3 star" point is made at least 312039094 times during recruiting.

Scout.com: National Signing Day viewer's guide (free)

Quote:
Can anyone catch Ohio State?

The Buckeyes have held the No. 1 spot in the team rankings since they debuted in July. Ohio State has a nearly 900-point lead heading into the final days before Signing Day. Considering a five-star player is worth approximately 300 points and a four-star player is worth approximately 200 points, Ohio State's lead is large, but not completely insurmountable.

There are several teams in the SEC worth keeping an eye on. Should the stars align for Alabama, LSU, Florida, or Georgia, there's a chance that one of the SEC powers could catch up to the Buckeyes.

USC is lurking at the No. 5 spot with only 18 commitments. The Trojans might not have enough scholarships this year to push for the No. 1 overall spot.

Of course, Ohio State might not be done recruiting either. A late commitment from offensive tackle Marcus Hall extended the lead this week, and should the Buckeyes ink five-star wide receiver Marlon Brown, Ohio State will all but lock up the No. 1 spot. As it is, they're going to be tough to catch on Signing Day.

This is the guy that I post every year because I think he is the best one for PA. He interviews a ton of people to get his top 50 list. Here is the final one for the 2009 class. Needless to say, Dorian Bell, Corey Brown, and Jordan Hall are on the list.
