I think you may be right. I have mentioned him in some of the other threads, such as your 2009 recruiting thread as a reason why we may not need to recruit a QB this year. It may seem a bit silly to let a kid this far down the road impact stuff we are doing now, but the fact is that if Terelle Pryor is the starter from 2009-2011 (with Bauserman as a very solid #2 during the same period) we could be set at the position in the short and medium term. By 2012, when we will be replacing TP, Miller will have been a 4 year HS starter at a good program and have had a full year to learn at OSU and if you are right about him being a national top 5 guy (I think you are), it is not far fetched at all to think he could be ready as a redshirt freshman to take over.
Now, I know all the caveats about projecting this far into the future and how things can change, etc. However, I honestly think JT and the coaches take a very hard look at future recruits when doling out offers in the current classes. Plus, in the case of Miller you have a guy who (1) has already proven he can be successful against good competition, (2) has already put up impressive measurables from a speed perspective, and (3) most importantly, from all reports, seems to have incredible intangibles and maturity.

'10 MI QB Devin Gardner is a target as well, and would likely find the depth chart appealing as well as Braxton.

Yes, I definitely think we need to take one guy next year as well. My opinion on the QB position has been that we should (1) give Domicone or O. Johnson a shot this year as the #4 in 08 and as the #3 in 09, (2) pass on offering any QBs in 2009, (3) grab a guy like Gardner (plus take guys like Macon and Ware who probably project elsewhere but could possibly stay at QB) in 2010, (4) make sure the depth chart is attractive for 2011 and Braxton Miller.
Basically, a quality over quantity approach that would leave us with 2 top national QBs to compete for the starting spot after TP leaves.

Amazing film, considering how young he is. I'm sure the Buckeye staff is keenly aware of him... i.e. they aren't recruiting another QB in '09 despite Henton leaving.
Looking forward to seeing Braxton play this fall

Braxton has the tools to be a good QB and I was in the boat that thought he would be a WR until I saw this. I think Braxton can play anywhere but I think he can develop into a stellar QB if he refines his game...and he has plenty of time to do so.
