I reaalize what you're saying, crazy, and he is a fine player. In the right settings, he's just amazing to watch with that speed.
Thing that gets me is that he's never played hoops. Basketball is big at Harvey and they've had some great teams in recent years. I've always thought Chris would have been a helluva threat to go 'Tyus Edney" everytime he got a rebound.
Peace.

There's been a lot of talk lately about whether a "gentleman's agreement" exists in the Big Ten regarding ending the recruitment of a player once he issues an oral commitment to another school. The end of the recruiting trail can provide more fireworks. But laying that early groundwork is what matters most.
Still ... OSU commit Chris Fields, a receiver at Harvey High School, said a few days ago that Michigan was hoping to speak with him this week.
"They're trying to persuade me," Fields said, "which is probably not going to happen."

TRACK INSIDER
Harvey trying to rotate Fields
Thursday, May 08, 2008Tim Warsinskey
Plain Dealer Reporter
Everyone wants Painesville Harvey junior Chris Fields' time.
Not some of it. All of it.
Track, baseball and football coaches all see the same thing in Fields: a potential for athletic greatness, if he could just devote more time to their sport.
"If we he had him for more time - and I'm sure the baseball coach is thinking the same thing - his potential is unlimited if he could stay with it," Harvey track coach Mark Yocum said.
Yocum is right, that's exactly what Harvey baseball coach Jeff Haas thinks.
"I personally think Chris can be a draft pick if he sticks with it," said Haas, a former Indians draft pick out of Cleveland State University. "It all depends on if he sticks with it. He's a five-tool player."

I keep watching this kid and he's gett'in a little "too big" for his britches. As the baseball season goes on, Chris is impressing as one of those kids that just keeps getting better. I guess I no longer Coach because I lost my ability to see "unlimited potential" since most kids peak-out when they're about 15 years old. Chris led off the second game of a doubleheader on saturday with a home run, then hit a 3-run jack later in the same inning. That's 2-2, with 2 Dings and 4 RBI's in the FIRST inning!!!!
I hate to eat my words and say this, but this kid could, and I stress only "could" get an offer after next baseball season that sends him a different direction. I wouldn't bet a nickel on it, but his numbers keep racking up, and he's only a junior.
Peace.
