Boren to be a Buck? OSU makes its offer
By SEAN GOLDEN

PICKERINGTON - Zach Boren will have to think about what he might look like in scarlet and gray before deciding where he will play college football.
Ohio State coach Jim Tressel and the Buckeyes recently extended a scholarship offer to Boren, who will play his senior season at Pickerington Central in the fall.
"It's huge," Zach said. "For any high school kid to get an offer from a (Bowl Championship Series) school ... it's a dream come true to get an offer that big.

BN $
4/23
By BK...likely to make a decision in the next week or so. His father say he does not care that OSU has three other LBs committed [ so I assume that means he is being recruited as a LB...which would make this the second time there has been talk of him as a LB {other time was in the Bank article}].

I know...I know...trust the coaches...But if he wants to play LB, tOSU is a tough place to see the field, especially with the studs we have in the fold right now!
Just sayin'

True. Yet Some LBs can end up turning into monster DEs (Thadeus)...some become safeties, then go back to the LB (Cie Grant)...some may even get time at FB (Stan White & now possibly Curtis Terry) or TE (was Brandon Smith recruited at DE or LB, I forget)...and all of them make great cover guys on Special Teams.
Then there are those guys recruited at LB (who some recruitniks thought was no better than a 'weak' fullback prospect), lowest on the totum poll so to speak in a fantastic class of linebackers, who comes in, sees the field as a true frosh during a National Championship season, and goes on to become one of the all-time greats at the position in The Ohio State University's great history. (thanks A.J)
So yeah, I'll stick with 'Trust the Coaches' as well.

Yeah, I trust the coaches as always, but I honestly doubt that Boren sees the field much as an LB. I think he'll see the field otherwise the staff woudn't offer, but I'll be surprised if that's the position.

Padrig makes a good point, you just never know have a recruit will turn out.
The 2002 class included 5 high school linebackers (see Scout.com rating) :
Mike D'Andrea - 5 stars
Mike Kudla - 5 stars
Bobby Carpenter - 4 stars
Stan White - 4 stars
A.J. Hawk - 3 stars
Care to guess which one became one of the "all time greats" at Ohio State?
