General Recruiting Discussion and Tangents (Merged)
Based on his unspectacular stats and on some unflattering reports of his play, is anyone else beginning to question the providence of the coaches' decision to make him the promise?

Not one bit...
Stats are about 10th on the list for measuring a prospect's value.

Yep it is all about how they project in college, not what they do on the high school level...

If I recall, Beanie didn't exactly blow up the statbook as a senior at Garfield. I believe he put up good, but not spectacular, numbers.

Junior Year - not sure of the number of games, but

Unspectacular?
Maybe Wells, Chris is the wrong comparative.

Boom Herron and Pittman had modest senior years. Herron on a poor team, Pittman still with a shaky ankle. Don't know about Herron, but Pittman certainly turned out all right.
That being said, I don't know if stats are actually way down at tenth on the list of items of importance. I would put stats in their proper perspective (level of comp, teammates, and overrall team strength), and rank them behind build, measurables, work ethic, and intelligence. Some guys "just produce" on the field, and their stats certainly show them out.
I will state that I'm sure all of us were expecting big things from Torrence at a program like Massillon.
