The point is that while UM isn't even mentioned in the article, they are amongst his leaders so you hanging onto this article with w/o direct quotes is a poor idea.

I'm venturing deep into enemy territory here, so I'm going to keep my eyes glued to the ground, keep my hands where they can be seen, and speak in an even, calm tone as to not agitate and incite a mob of any sort.

GBW (Michigan's Scout site) has an insider close to Henderson's recruitment. I'm obviously not going to bring all that he said over here, but basically, he echoed much of what union has said. Michigan left a very, very strong impression on Henderson when he visited. Henderson was also very excited to receive an offer from USC, but the rumors that they "lead" may not be true. The person he spoke to (a Henderson family member) said that if 'Trel was picking a school today, it would 100% be Michigan. Now that obviously means absolutely nothing in early July, and Henderson is very attracted to the empire USC has built since Carroll arrived. He's not concerned about depth at USC or Michigan (or anywhere else for that matter).

Without delving too deeper and breaking the "premium info" mandate, Henderson is concerned about the following:

-Academics
-History & tradition
-Being prepared for the NFL
-Location, to an extent
-Family atmosphere

Michigan and USC definitely bring the academics and history. I know that the posters here have their own opinions about Michigan's system preparing offensive linemen for the pros, but Henderson was wowed by UM OL coach Greg Frey, and he (and his family) believe Frey would do an excellent job preparing him for the NFL if he came to Michigan. Location is a bit murky. Minnesota obviously has the huge edge there, but they don't have the history and tradition on their side. The Henderson camp has said they wouldn't mind making the 10 hour drive to Ann Arbor to see 'Trel play, and obviously other locations in the Big Ten would be doable as well. That's a strike against USC. And, despite what Justin Boren says (again, not a shot, just telling it like it is), Rodriguez has absolutely instilled a sense of family at Michigan. There's a chance Henderson may not get that same vibe when he visits USC.

Overall the insider painted a very, very rosy picture for Michigan in regards to UM's chances with the big fella. But like I said, leading for a star recruit in July is meaningless. I'm sure you guys have your own horror stories when it comes to recruiting. For us folks north of the border, the Ronald Johnson saga was like a freaking chemical burn. The majority of us concede defeat whenever USC enters a race for a recruit we're after, all because of RoJo.

We sure do, go to the '07 recruiting form and look around the AA bowl...we lost about 10 guys we thought were "locks", one of them being Barksdale from up north (running joke around here now). We even thoughT we might get RoJo that year oddly enough but it was the wildest year for recruiting. In any event, thanks for the info on Henderson and welcome to BP.
