Could it be that the staff had really, deep down inside, hoped to redshirt Pryor this season? Now, after reflecting that Pryor could be a 3 year player, they figure they would be better suited to bring in a QB to redshirt next season (without speculating on Bauserman's perspective on dropping behind Pryor on the depth chart), rather than wait another year?

Seems more likely that one of their top-3 QB recruits from long ago became more open to OSU in recent months. Sheppard obviously wasn't coming here.

I'm sure that is probably more likely, but I do have to believe that Pryor's showing thus far, and the apparent lack of depth at QB next year and beyond has to play into it somewhat. |

Well they entered this recruiting season knowing fully well they only had 1 scholarship qb and that with his potential a 3 year departure was always a risk. Gardner, Gordon, Miller and others show some potential, but won't be able to suit up for 2-3 years.
