Anyway, i agree with Watt for Marc ... also agree with Fragel being in there, but who do you take out (Muldoon?? / Banks??)
|
Not sure on who you take out...I would take out Banks for the time being...Just because I like Hunter and Vlad better and I think the chances of him getting a WR/DB type offer are slimming with Jackson in and likely Carter, and the staff looking at some big time WR prospects...

however i disagree with another DE due to prospects for the following class like Gholston ... If Lawrence Wilson has a break out year like he was projected to have last year then he might be gone, so who knows
|
yeah DE could be loaded next year with Gholston, Turner(LB/DE?), and JT Moore(DE/DT), but I was just saying it because I think that we saw 3 DE offers in the past 2 weeks...Just a thing to take note of....

A general question for you would be this ... If we have more than 25 open scholarships available for next year (due to all the seniors and possible early leaves or QB transfers?) can we add more than 25 players or is 25 the absolute max??
ps. i made the Watt for Marc edit in my last post due to Marc not getting an offer yet
|
I think there is a chance for 26...It would have to be the right 26, meaning that it would have to be a special player, and we would need at least to enroll early and count against last years class...

My understanding on this matter, and someone can please correct me if they know me to be wrong, is that the Big Ten allows its programs to "oversign" by up to 3 recruits (ie, allows 28 total signings in any one class), so long as the oversigning program provides the league with a written explanation of how the it intends to be under the 85-total-scholarship count by the beginning of the season. But I agree that it would seem Tressel would be unlikely to oversign, even if not doing so meant carrying fewer than 85 total scholarships, unless a really talented player was #26. He seems to like to aim for a balanced number of scholarships in each class, and would therefore rather see a scholarship carry over to the following season as opposed to signing 26 in one class.

I noticed in the newly created Tyler Eifert thread that Grad mentioned the staff was set on multiple TEs this year.

I would add Watt to the list, and then take Marc off...Still think you gotta have Fragel in there or at least a spot for a TE...Then I think that with the way recruiting is going, Pryor in house, and a big year this fall that we will attract a big time player, that is not on the list right now...I just continue to get that feeling...
Seems we go farther into the recruiting season and there becomes more questions that we thought we had a grasp on...

Following up those posts...I would agree I would add Watt to the class. And Fragel as well. Probably not going to happen for Marc, but who knows. I ahve no idea what to make of Hyde...for now I'll go with this class:
RB - Jamaal Berry
RB - Jordan Hall
FB - Zach Boren
FB - Adam Homan (could play LEO or TE)
WR - Duron Carter
WR - Chris Fields
WR - James Jackson
TE - Reid Fragel
OL - Jack Mewhort
OL - Marcus Hall
OL - Chris Watt
OL - Corey Linsley
DE - Melvin Fellows
DE - Jonathan Newsome
DT - John Simon
DT - Pat Muldoon
DT - Corey Adams
LB - Jordan Whiting
LB - Storm Klein
LB - Dorian Bell
CB - Brandon McGee
CB - C.J. Barnett
S - Vlad Emilien
S - Jamie Wood
S - E.J. Banks
That's my 25 for now...would love to see a surprise somewhere like Boyd or Teflort, but at whose expense?

Don't want to quote that Wad, but no Hunter? Interesting.

I don't know if there will be room for both so it might be a first come first serve...but everything I have heard says that Hunter is really interested in Indiana because playing time is readily available.
I am still waiting to see if there is movement with Justin Green...
