![]() Seriously though, and with all due respect, I'll just go with the PM info I got from a poster on this site and leave it at that. Gotta commend the people on THIS site for the discretion that has been shown "considering." I'm sure that many a site have plenty to say about "allegations" and "accusations." BP is showing to me an increible amount of class by just not allowing these things to be posted or discussed. Thanks for the reply "wad" You represent the Buckeye nation well! Peace. |

The next class is already shaping up well in many ways. Looking at things from a depth chart perspective, it would seem that a couple positions would potentially be a tough sell based upon the young guys already here. Specifically, LB, WR and O line after the haul that we had this year at those positions and the young depth already on the team. However, we are already off to a great start at O line and LB and it seems like we should be in good shape with this class at those positions with some highly regarded in state guys. It is great that the positions that would likely be the toughest to fill are looking to be in very good shape already which could set us up for an amazing class if we can take advantage of the favorable depth chart at other positions to land some big time out of state guys.
It is hard to say that any position on the team offers a really favorable depth chart as we are looking loaded pretty much everywhere. However, the positions that look most favorable where we might be able to get some big time national recruits from out of state are, IMO, RB, TE and DB. At RB, Chris Wells will be a name that every RB recruit in the country knows and he is almost a lock to leave early. With Mo graduating, that will leave only Saine and Herron. Those 2 are solid, but won't likely scare a star away, especially since even worst case a recruit is looking at being #3 right away. At TE, we will be in a similar situation with only Ballard and DiLillo on the roster. We aren't the most glamorous destination for TEs but maybe the lure of immediate playing time and the obvious opportunity to be a multiple year starter will be enticing. DB may not seem to be an obvious choice, but I think there will be a real opportunity for young guys to make an immediate impact. We will be losing Malcolm Jenkins, Jamario and Patterson and I also suspect that guys like Washington and Russell may take a long hard look at the NFL. That group of DBs that came in together in 2005 all seem close and I think they might bolt. If that were to happen, a top recruit could see a real opportunity at DB U, especially since most of our young backups are unproven. |

Now, that isn't to say that they will not get offers, but they don't have them now. If they get offers next week, or next month do you think that these two young men from the State of Ohio will not look differently at their early offer from Illinois, will not in the end value a Buckeye offer more highly than one from out of state? In my opinion that seems likely. |

As long as our coaches are up front and tell these kids that it is just a matter of evaluating film, maybe wanting to see them at camp, etc... It has been said that both Studlein and Harris are buckeyes if offered...I don't see any reason to rush into offering a kid if they don't see fit just because of an early offer from Illinois...If we do offer and they stay with Illinois then maybe... If we lose a player or two maybe we reevaluate what we are doing, but we lost Scott last season for whatever reason, and Zook got an early verbal from Fellows this year, which could be a tough challenge too pull him in, but I still feel we will, but other than that he has offered just about every kid in Ohio that is ranked in the top 20 and some of these kids just aren't going to get buckeye offers... We lost Beachum, Zordich, and Shaw to PSU this recruiting season but no one was really complaining about that that...Because we didn't offer any of these guys, besides Zordich and we clearly made up for losing him with pulling in Sabino... |

We look to be putting a concerted effort into early recruiting this year...
We had a huge junior day this year...There was about 2 full shuttle buses full of recruits and their families at the game Sunday and we still have two Sunday games left on the schedule, which I assume some big names are going to show up... We got another commit in CJ Barnett to put our list up to 6... Since the first update we have seen offers go out to Bud Golden, Marlon Brown, EJ Banks, and Jonathon Newsome... Added some new names to the first post as well... Also found a top 150 from FVsports 10. Dorian Bell 12. Bryce Brown 15. John Simon 17. Marlon Brown 23. Bryce McNeal WR Minn - Think we have other prospects on the board...But he is highly rated and Minny is really in on him hard... 24. Melvin Fellows 29. Desmar Jackson 30. Jordan Hunt LB Miss - I haven't heard of him, but listed as interest on this list... 33. CJ Barnett 36. Petey Smith 41. Justin Turner 42. Dion Sims 58. Craig Drummond - Way too low IMO... 61. Storm Klein - Nice to see him get some love in rankings... 77. Kraig Appleton 78. Marcus Hall 83. Jack Mewhort - Another one nice to see him getting some love... 90. Corey Adams 95. Darell Givens 114. JeRon Stokes 116. Jordan Whiting - Too low... 117. Darell Mason 125. Larry Caper The only committ not on this list is Homan, and we all know he is not going to be rated real high but he is one of those kids that is just a football player... This list will probably continue to change very much over the next couple months, but it is really starting to take shape since we are sending out offers and getting a feel for where guys stand... QB - Not sure RB - Larry Caper RB - Bud Golden FB - Adam Homan WR - JeRon Stokes WR - Chris Fields TE - Ed Hazelett OL - Jack Mewhort OL - Chris Watt OL - Marcus Hall DE - Melvin Fellows DE/LB - Jonathon Newsome DT - John Simon DT - Cory Adams DE/DT - Trae Tiller LB - Storm Klein LB - Jordan Whiting LB - Too many to choose from right now CB - Darell Givens CB - CJ Barnett CB/S - EJ Banks S - JT Turner S - Derell Mason |

I think they are looking for a position for Mason...Should be a guy they look at during camp, if he waits that long... |

I think there are a couple of names higher on the board at this point...I think he is right with Corey Brown on the bubble...no concrete info on that one, just a guess based on all the info I have gathered.

All those kids are going to commit to USC. Its a fact of life. Pete could sell a handful of horse stuff and tapeworms to a cowboy for a million dollars. Dont know how he does it. ![]() Last edited by wadc45; 02-12-2008 at 11:00 PM. Reason: LANGUAGE |
