It is really looking like things could come together for us really nicely to have another amazing class in 2010.
The positive: -We should get off to a really early start which always helps. -Ohio seems loaded at OL and with athletes at the QB/RB position (Ware, Macon, etc.). -Some of the top Michigan guys seem to be high on the Bucks (Devin Garnder and William Gholston, for example). -A great 2008 season and what could potentially be a record setting draft in April of 2009 should help tremendously. -Losing a ton of talent in the next 2 years will make early PT look possible at a lot of positions (even though beating out some of these 08 and 09 recruits will be no small task). The negative: -It seems like a lot of the Pennsylvania kids have family ties to other programs (ND, PSU, Pitt, etc.). -Some of the top OH kids are from parts of the state where OSU has not done quite as well (Cincinnati for example). -At some point, we are going to be too loaded with great young players for guys who want to play early to come here. For example, I think having guys like Adams, Shugarts, Hall, etc. is going to make OSU much less attractive to a guy like Seantreal Henderson who will want to play early in his career, not sit on the bench for 2 years.

Dwight Macon - Really not sure what to make of this situation yet...I think he could be tOSU worthy...Think they might like to take a strong look at his junior season and maybe at camp next year... Devin Gardner - Right now he seems to be the top guy on the board...He is very raw, not great with his mechanics, but he has the potential, and can really make plays with his legs...Probably a top 10-15 QB in the country next year...And we lead so that is a good thing... Robert Bolden - I would say he goes to Michigan if they offer...He and Gardner are 1-2 in the state of michigan for next year and both have big time talent... Derek Roback - I really liked what I saw out of him at the scout combine in Cincy...With the above three it might be hard for him to get a long look tho...He is in the picture for now tho... RB - I would say 1 or 2 here...Ohio has 2 guys with top 50 talent in the country...But will we be able to land either one? Spencer Ware - He is a top 10 player in the country...He is just an athlete, he could play anywhere on the field, but I think you get him the ball at the tailback position...Right now tho I have heard that the early leader could be Tennessee...I really hope that Tress can work his recruiting magic on Spencer... Eric Howard - There are some rumors going around that there might be some things keeping him from getting an offer next year...Like grades and other things...I really don't like to speculate on those things unless i have facts, so I still have him on here...He has lots of talent on the football field... Roderick Smith - From Indiana, could be the top prospect in the state...He has put up some very big numbers, and was invited to a junior day here last year...Gotta think there is some interest in him if that is the case... Alan Jones - He will split time with Derell Mason at tailback at Ursuline, but he has the potential to come in third in the running back race in Ohio...Will that be enough to warrant an offer? I have no idea, but he looks very solid on film and always seems to put up some big numbers... FB - After taking one in 08 and two guys that could play there in 09 I say we don't take one in '10... TE - If we take 2 this year then I would say we only take 1, if we only take 1 we might take 2...It will also probably depend on the prospects that pop up... Dan Schneider - Really the only name out there right now... WR - With the number we took this year either 3 or 4 however you look at it I will say 2 would be max after taking 3 the year before... Terrnance Casper - From New Jersey...Won an MVP at a camp...Has great size at 6'5''...Has been in contact with the staff...We are in his initial top 5... Jerald Robinson - Really like this kid...At this point I would have him at #1 WR in the state for 2010...He is really fluid in his movement...Runs good routes...look for him to have a big season next year at Canton South...Already hearing from the staff...Solid grades with a 3.2...6'2'' frame at 175 with lots of room to grow... D.J. Williamson - A kid with a ton of potential...Has great size, and great speed...10.82 100 as a sophomore...Also built pretty well...Goes up and gets the ball well...Could be a CB type as well...Will be interesting to see him perform this fall... Wadsworth kid - I have heard there is a WR prospect from Wadsworth that has gotten interest from the staff, but don't know the name anyone know who I am talking about or heard of him? OL - After taking 3 last year and going to be 4 this year with a side of Justin Boren, I would say 2 would be ok, but with the talent that we will be in on and in-state you gotta strike while the iron is hot and I will say 3 maybe 4 if the right guys want to come...Will be interesting to see who gets offers...I will say Henderson, James, and Norwell get early offers...But Miller is no slouch and the other guys Hodgepodge really likes and I am yet to see anything on them... Matt James - Top lineman in the state IMO...Very impressive on film...Plays against great talent and still dominates, he has good size, good drive, good footwork...He is what you look for in a LT prospect...It will be interesting to see who he favors...I see an early offer here for sure, especially if there is a chance that he might get away... Seantrel Henderson - Top 5 player in the state...Comparisons to O Pace...We are in the race, but it is going to be tough going up against Notre Dame and Minnesota, and probably some other schools sprinkled in...Already has a verbal offer... Andrew Norwell - This is Wade's guy...I haven't seen film, but he has a great film, and will be up there with James for best lineman in the state...He will be one that will be a buckeye if offered I believe... Taylor Miller - Another guy that will throw his name in the ring with James and Norwell for offers in state next year... Isaiah Byler from Elyria, Skyler Schoffner from Washington Court House, and Josh Davis From Plain City Jonathan Alder are guys on Hodgepodge watch list as other guys to look out for...Looks like another solid year in-state for OL... DE - I am going to say 2 or 3...We have a couple on this list that could outgrow the DE spot and end up at DT...i have already moved Turner to the LB list as I think that he is suited for the OLB spot at this point... Derrick Bryant - A quick DE with a good frame...I have him as a top 10 talent in the state and could be an early offer candidate...He looks great on film as well...Coming off the edge...has the speed to run guys down from the backside...Just hope that his grades stay good as he is going to the CPS system and that always scares me a little bit with recruits... Darryl Baldwin - A big DE with a great frame...Already about 6'6'' 240...Will grow into his frame very nicely...Really like his potential...I see him as maybe an early offer candidate... William Gholston - Big Vern's cousin...Showed well at the camps that he attended and we are the early favorite...Has a lot of room to grow into his 6'7'' frame as well... Grant Pleasant - Haven't heard anything about him, or seen any film, but the name was thrown out there earlier in the thread... Anthony Gibson - Has solid size and runs the 100 in 10.7...If he can add weight to his frame, and have DE size he could be a terror coming off the end with that size... O'Neal Brown - He is another that has a good frame, but needs quite a bit of polish...Will be interesting to see how he performs this fall at Harding... DT - probably 1 or 2 here...Would love to land a big timer here from out of state...a top 50 type kid...Doesn't look like there will be any in state, or at least none have emerged yet... J.T. Moore - Right now he might be more of DE prospect but with some studs on that list, I think that his best chance for an offer here would be to add weight to his 230 lb frame and be a DT prospect...He was good on film... LB - I will say 3...I don't think that we need 3 but with Turner and Hicks as Outside guys in-state, and then Rosenbauer, Snow, Galvin, etc., and that is before we even begin to look outside the state at all, I think we might take 3...2 would be the ideal number following the past 2 classes tho... Jamel Turner - He and Ware will be a battle for top player in the state next year IMHO...I have moved Turner to the LB list, because I am just not sure if he has the frame to be a full time DE...He might follow the Thad Gibson path and be a rush end, but stick more at OLB...Either way this kid a freak athletically and some places will have him in top 20 players in the country...Will be interesting to see how Ursuline uses him this year and see how he performs... Jordan Hicks - His film was very impressive for a sophomore...I think he is a no brainer for an offer next season...Might not necessarily be early, but at some time maybe around signing day I see Hicks getting an offer... Zac Rosenbauer - Another one that I really like...Right now I think that Zac will be looking at Mike LB in college, but there is a possiblity of him moving to DE depending on how he grows...He led his league in tackles as sophomore this past season and that is no easy feat for the league...He reads very well, and when he hits you, you go down...Also there has been some contact between he and the staff... Jewone Snow - Recent info in this thread has him as a MSU lean...He was hurt last season and didn't play much, started at mckinley as a frosh which puts you int he big time talk usually...Will be interesting to see how he performs this year... Nick Galvin - Another OLB, in the mold of Tyler Moeller...Will be interesting to see how he performs this year...He is on the outside looking in right now I think, but he will make someone very happy...Kid is a player... Scott McVey - A kid that Hodgepodge keeps talking about...Haven't seen or heard anything else about him tho...But I take Hodge's word for it tho... CB - Not sure on how many here...Probably 2 Terrance Talbott - I really like Terrance...Saw him live at the combine in cincy...He is a very fluid athlete... Dior Mathis - Probably a Michigan kid, but this is one to keep an eye on...He is going to be a good one...Kinda small in stature at about 5'9-5'10 but it is still early, but this kid can cover...Will probably be a top 100 kid... Christian Bryant - He is one to keep an eye on...From Glenville, had a great shwoing earlier this year at a combine...Will be interesting to see him perform this year on the field...Right now I would have him as the top prospect from Glenville for this class... Deandre Harris - Another name that is out there at this early stage...From Ursuline, other than that I really don't know much...Has pretty good size going into his junior season... Andre Givens - One of my favorites in-state next year...He is a very good athlete, could be a CB/S/RB/WR at the next level...He runs very well, very fluid in his movements... S - After this year, I will say 1 or 2...But once again looking like lots of talent on the board to only take 1...And we know how Tress loves he his safeties... Marvin Robinson - This looks like a Michigan/tOSU/USC battle...He is a top 10 talent...Looks like a freak at only 15...He could outgrow this position and grow into an OLB...We will hear alot about him as Michigan fans all think he is a lock...There are some Ohio state love on his staff, and some Michigan on the staff as well...This one is going to be fun...Would love to land him tho... Mike Dorsey - He looks very good on film...Ranked in the top 100 player on fvsports list...He will be moved to RB this year, but I think his eventual position in college is S...could Courtney Avery - He is a good looking athlete...Getting some early love in recruiting circles...I believe he might have an Illinois offer already...He had a big camp at tOSU as well from what I heard... Braylon Heard, Ray Vinopal, Daniel Lambardo are some others to watch in-state... K/P - I would say we look to take 1 for sure...With only having Buchanan as the only underclassmen once AP and RP graduate... Brad Potter - One of our very own posters...Lets hope that he can get an offer and become a buckeye...

I talk to Williamson at least a few times a week. He's humble, but confident. He knows that this year will be huge if he wants to get a jump ahead in this class. He came into the summer with a lot of momentum from track season, so he's just anxious to get the pads on and start performing.

Nice break down cb40.
I think that at QB, we may be able to go with just 1 (gardner?) if the coaches feel good about Miller. He just seems to me like he could be a super blue chip type guy who could come in and compete early for playing time. I know we are talking way in the future and that the numbers are pretty low, but I almost feel like if you are getting kids as talented as Pryor, Gardner and Miller, maybe you carry a guy less at the position. I agree wholeheartedly about Turner. The guy to me looks way shorter than some of the 6-3 numbers that are out there. I think he is shorter and smaller than Gibson. He looks more like a 6-0 or 6-1 guy who is pretty mature for his age and not likely to get bigger (or to get longer arms) and could be a great one at OLB. The recent offer to Longo is a little bit puzzling if it means they are going to take 5 (or really 6 if you count Boren) this year. We got 3 great ones last year and are looking at a banner crop of in-state guys next year. Seems like we will almost be forced to limit it to 2 or at the most 3 and it might leave some good players on the outside looking in.

Possible top 100. - It's very early and I still need to watch film on many guys and/or wait for the film to come out. Derek Roback is definetly someone to watch and many are high on him. Reports are too varied to put him on the list. Howard I'm not quite sold on but he is on the brink of the list. Heard Christian Bryant could be OSU's lone offer to Glenville next year. Talbot is going to make some noise and I've heard a lot around the area on him. Other than that, most names are just names to me at this point and I need to do more research to expand on the list or edit it.

I'm surprised I haven't seen Tim Caillet mentioned on this thread. 6'5", 220 lb. tight end from Canal Fulton. I hear the staff has their eye on him.
