Funny.. We are so far along in '09 recuiting that we have to move forward to the '10 season for debate and prognosticating!!
Normally, we would be knee deep in '09 discussion and not have much time to look at '10 class yet!

Plain City is Central Ohio, But I agree Busnative, I would think that around the Columbus Metro area there should be at least two or three.
The bias on this and other boards seems to be bipolar.. North and South, with central is an after thought.

That's OK. Tress and company find the kids from here as well.

To your point, there is some good reason for that.

I played in the Columbus Metro area (Westerville South) in the mid 1990s. We had an outstanding team my senior year, ranked 14th in the USAToday polls for the entire season.

We played a 2 or 3 loss Youngstown Boardman team in the regional final at Fawcett Stadium and we lost 7-3 (didn't hurt Boardman that the field was in atrocious shape due to a snowstorm which effectively neutralized our speed advantage over them). They deserved to win that day, but I still think we were a great team: 6 of my teammates played significant D1 football, and I went D2.

Make no mistake, the best teams usually reside in Northeastern or Southwestern Ohio.

I don't argue that, I just know that there is still some good talent in Central Ohio every year.
Many times nothing is said about them until later in the cycle.

Don't forget these kids just finished their sophomore years. Sometimes talented kids can't see the field on varsity at big schools (think about the Dublin schools) because of upperclassmen. Give it another year, I'm sure some more names will pop up.

Just out of curiosity how solid of a big board would the staff have for 2010 already? Would they already know most of the people they want to target?

Yeah I am sure they have a good idea, with seeing some underclassmen at camps, and probably being out to games and what not...They will have a pretty good idea on numbers as well, with this class being pretty much full...

I'm pretty familiar with basketball recruiting not so much with football. Would they even be discussing 2011-2012 prospects at this point?

While I am sure they are all over the info that is out there in a way it concerns me to think that we are already focused on kids who have yet to play their Junior season. I followed Derek Combs throughout HS and he didn't start till his Junior year. In that regard it is networking with HS coaches that is key. They see these kids in practice and can see potential long before anything shows up on film.

Did you have any idea when he would have shown up on Coop's radar? Grove City in those days was a powerhouse program right?
