Penn State called Gateway coach Terry Smith before practice Tuesday and said it was offering scholarships to receiver-defensive back Corey Brown (6 feet 1, 185 pounds) and linebacker Dorian Bell (6-2, 215). Pitt, Ohio State, Michigan and Alabama already had offered scholarships to both.
"They both have about 12 offers already," Smith said.
Smith believes both Brown and Bell could be ranked among the top 50 players in the country next year.

Is that 40 time a misprint-we are talking about an elite WR/DB prospect here.....

If we offered, he either has game speed, a misprint, or he has other aspects of his game that superseed the 40 time. If we have offered already, he is an elite WR.
With the receivers we are bringing in this year all seemingly around 6'3" (except for Lamaar Thomas), I would venture to guess the staff focuses on the smaller speed guys like Corey Brown and Ohio's Chris Fields. Just my own assumption, nothing really to go off of.

WOW! Gateway sure keeps cranking out talented kids, from Justin King in '05, to Jon, Ditto in '07, Hale and Saddler in this class and then these 2 in the next. I didn't notice so many recruits coming out of there before King, but maybe there were there and I just didn't notice.

I would assume it's more of a fluke. Never learned how to run a 40, did it once, and that's his time.
That's just my guess though. I doubt we would offer a WR this early if that was his "game speed"

Plenty of game speed, very fluid athlete (saw him in Pitt, then Akron). That time was in May (Pittsburgh combine), so we're talking about a HS soph.

I would wonder the latter as well. He made 1st team combine (only soph to do so) at WR at that same combine where he was timed at 4.7

Remember everyone was saying the same thing about Cordale Scott when one of his earlier combine times was 4.7ish.
