The Buckeyes got a massive verbal for the class of 2011 when Canton McKinley superstar defensive end Steve Miller decided to end what little suspense there was around his recruitment and verbal the Buckeyes. I only hope to see the Buckeyes land a pair of defensive ends like Miller and Toledo Whitmers Kenny Hayes again. Nobody in the country will bring in a better set of ends in that class. Both should be national top 10 and five-star players. Miller projects as a weak side end. Hayes could play the weak side but can also play the strong side so I see him lining up there just to get both on the field at the same time. Huge get.

Have to disagree with Duane there. Steve seems better suited for the strong side, despite the reported ten pound difference (Miller sure doesn't look ten pounds lighter than Kenny).

I think trying to argue which guy is which at this point with them just being juniors in H.S. is just an exercise in semantics. These guys will be tearing up the big ten in 3-5 years is a known fact though.

I disagree with him that both are top 10 national recruits as well. No way Ohio has gets twp top 10 recruits in the country on Rivals or Scout, let alone at the same position. Duane always goes overboard on certain positions. I will agree that both have 5 star potential and that I think Miller certainly is though. I couldn't be more excited about getting these two and as early as we did. It certainly helps to get the in state talent shored up so you can more actively pursue OOS studs as well.

They are certainly not both top ten caliber national talents for all positions for 2011, but a strong case could be made that they are top ten talents at DE. Duane's statement was fairly ambiguous in that respect.

I figured he meant top 10 nationally regardless, since he also said 5 star, unless he means there are 8 other five star DE's nationally. They are undoubtedly top 10 DE's nationally though, so I would agree with that.

Miller highlights vs. Whitmer | Miller interview
2011 CLASS
COMMITTED TO: Ohio State
PERFORMANCE: Starts for McKinley on defense and has played a large role in that unit's resurgence late in the season, and the team's current playoff run. Against Whitmer in round one, had two sacks and an additional two tackles for a loss in one of his best single-game performances.
STRENGTHS: Miller is also a solid pass rusher, and can beat tackles either to the inside our outside.
WEAKNESSES: Continue to improve productivity. Miller was far more of a factor vs. Whitmer than in my previous two in-person evaluations this season. Miller must eliminate those longer periods during games where he does not make much impact. But again, against Whitmer, he was a consistent force. - G.L.
