Michael Brewster comes to mind too. And Trent Richardson is going to Alabama this year.

I would love to land Lamarcus, and maybe our Florida connections can help us do just that.

Trent Richardson is also from the Panhandle, VERY close to Alabama.

Berry was only offered by Florida...

If he would of been offered by Miami and pushed hard for I don't think he would be a buckeye commit...

A guy that is pushed for by all of the top schools is hard to pull out of Florida...

Obviously you have a kid or two that wants to get out, but I would say the chances or a kid offered by FSU, FLorida, and Miami doesn't leave the state 5/100 times...

Quite true.

Fortunately for OSU, Miami is full with incoming (Lamar Miller and Bryce Brown) and current RBs (Graig Cooper and Javaris James).

Miami is also full up on WRs, LBs and QBs.

Miami is looking for a few more DBs and definitely OLs.

However, how it looks next recruiting cycle, when Joyner will be graduating, will be interesting to see.

Miami's coach Randy Shannon knows the local HS coaches very well and a look of young kids look up to Randy and UM. Slowly but surely they are starting to build a recruiting wall with top talent in the area that even UF and FSU are having a tough time to penetrate.

Again, what can help OSU is recruiting in area that Miami is crowded with. I have an inkling Joyner might be a possible pickup should Miami load up on some DBs this recruiting cycle.

Where does he project? I know its still a few years away, but 5-8 and 166 lbs (as of 11/25/08) seems too small for a RB even at this stage. I would think he needs to be around 180-190 lbs and a couple of inches taller. I was thinking as a DB.

After talking to a few people I know down here, I am not sure Lamarcus might get the attention the next recruiting cycle from the big 3 and OSU should be sure to go after him. Reason being that he is being considered undersized (despite exceptional speed). I have known this to happen to many kids down here over the years, some who even set county records, but wound up going out of state.

And that's despite the existing offers (comes down to playing time).

Brewster was a big Buckeye fan with family from up north right?

Trent Richardson is basically from Alabama. His hometown is more like Alabama than it is Florida.

Trust me, the Fl big 3 will not ease up on him at all. UF wish he could sign right now. FSU is going to send the house at him. Miami is not a good fit. I know he made a mistake with his comments about Miami, "I think ill get screwed." Didnt mean it like that though. Simply, I dont Miami has developed or used their players over the past couple of years like they should. Their staff is unexperienced besides Young and he thinks their program is not dynamic. Dont worry about O-state getting a look. I got ya, OS will stay in the top 3-4 along with BC. I love OS tradition, program, school, environment, and the way players develop and are used on the field. Especially defensively, O-state DBs are often top notch.

This is my 1st post on this forum. I really like the class of the fans of OS here. Unlike the Miami fans who think that everyone who doesnt go their is scared of competition. LJ is my nephew by the way

Welcome genron, look forward to hearing updates throughout the process, and yes we're right there with Miami in regards to producing DBs. Hope Lamarcus comes up to take a look, kids usually are blown away by the tradition and everything OSU has to offer.

Welcome.

Miami's got their own set problems starting with them now needing an OC (they fired their OC Nix in case anybody heard). Hopefully for their sake, they bring back the Chud from Cleveland. I'd also wish they'd bring back that RB coach they had from a few years back, Don Soldinger, you figure James and Cooper are a good talent, but it's been lethargic at the RB spot for them. I know they got Lamar Miller coming in for sure, Bryce? let's see and also Mike James. Florida State, although they had a nice bowl victory, still has issues. Florida is outstanding, but what I worry about there for LJ is playing time.

What people told me about your nephew is that come next recruiting cycle, the big 3 are going to putting more effort into getting a taller db if possible than Joyner. I kept hearing the name Frankie Telfort when I heard LJ discussed. That's fine, let the Florida schools eat cake. Of course they're still going to offer him and hedge their bets, who wouldn't unless they were truly full up at that position, the way Miami was full up at LB this year along with WR. What that also means is that if Ohio St. steps up to the plate and goes after him hard (like they did with Jaamal Berry), they're going to have a winner on their hands. I know, I saw LJ in action a few weeks back. He was a sheer bright spot for the Eagles against the Panthers. He can play with the big boys (you saw my earlier comments) so there shouldn't be any issues.

LJ's Uncle is spot on. Whoever they bring as OC, there is a good chance that Shannon will be gone with a mediocre season next year. The fanbase is not happy. Since he has taken over, the Canes have gone backward in year one, then finished with the same record as the year before he took over, with one of the worst clock management displays I've ever seen.

Worst yet, the team shows no sight of being a "team", and the lack of unity on it is like a cancer.

This Gator can only hope he picks UF, but if LJ were to become a Buckeye, that would be a fine choice as well. Like UF, they have a strong family feel and a great academic program for their athletes.

(I'd wait to see if FSU gets the increased sanctions that even FSU's President is predicting)

Yes, FSU is a big mess, too.

One thing I will say in Randy Shannon's defense...he's getting top recruits out of Broward and Dade County, particularly the northern part of Miami is just feeding him top talent. That's his major draw, recruiting. I remember the day he was hired, and it was like a light turned on for so many kids in Dade County, where Miami is situated.

I'll give him a mulligan for the previous season (that was Coker's garbage) and this year he still needs to gel the team.

However, if he screws up next year, I do agree he's gone. The DC Young and also their LB Coach Barrow are extremely good, but they need help at the other skill positions. They've got so much talent there, but they are indeed wasting it.

Just before the start of the season, Miami fans are always believing every year is going to be the year, that somehow every recruit is going to be magic. That's good, that's positive thinking, and that's the way they thought through the late 1980s when I personally feel they were probably at the strongest in their team's history. Unfortunately, good recruiting and talent won't get you anywhere unless you have the coaching at the top.

Perhaps Shannon should go up the street and talk to Bill Parcells for some advice (seriously).

Having looked at some Miami forums tonight, I wouldn't go as far to call for Randy's firing. Give the poor guy one more year at least (he's worth that alone in another good recruiting class). At least he made one right call in getting rid of Nix.

Gatorubet, Miami did give UF a bit of a game for 3 quarters. However, I am rooting for UF over the Sooners.
