CBF40's look at 2012 recruiting

I know it is way too early, but there are some big names out there already, and we are in on some out of state guys that are looking like big timers as well...So I just thought I would put this together.

Greg McMullen (DE Akron Hoban) - Kid is very athletic, he was in Columbus lately to check out the facilities...He is also a good basketball player and plays WR which shows his athleticism. one of the top 3 players in the state for 2012.

Allen Gant (S/ATH Sylvania Soutview) - Already timed at a 10.9 100 as a frosh...Started on the state championship team as a frosh, plays S and he caught a td pass in the game....Dad played for Michigan but rumored to be a buckeye fan...

George Bradley (S Trotwood Madison) - Sean Taylor comparisons have already been thrown out there...He plays for a talented team as a frosh...One of the top 3 in Ohio right now for the 2012 class...

Davonte Neal (WR AZ) - Kid looks like a top 10 player in the country for the 2012 class and we are his leader. He is so quick in and out cuts, and can really get open...Would be a huge get out of Arizona...

Toneo Gulley (RB Akron Garfield) - He is still real small and will need to grow to be a big time prospect, but has very good athleticism and played a lot as a frosh for Garfield. Had one of the most talked about runs in the state last year...

Rushel Shell (RB PA) - Has size that could play in college at...We are in his top 3 at this early stage...Will probably see offers as early as next year, and TP is his favorite player...One to keep an eye on for sure...

Jacoby Boren (OL Pickerington Central) - It is real early, but he is the brother of Justin and Zach so one to keep an eye on if he can grow to the size of his brothers...

Imani Cross (RB GA) - Elephant has posted about him, and he saw some time as a frosh and is one to keep an eye on as he likes the buckeyes...Favorite RB is Beanie, and is hoping to come up this summer...He has the size of a college guy, and already has an offer from Ga Tech...

I know it is real early and we could possibly not offer any on this list...

But just looking at the list and the talent on the list, and the ones that favor us, we could really bring in some top 50 talent in the country in this class...

One would think that Gant, McMullen, and Bradley will be in the talks from Ohio...Just due to things that you can tell kids are going to be stars...Like 10.9 100's td catches in state title games, comparisons to Sean Taylor, and the athletic freak that McMullen is shown from his ability on the basketball court and from his film...

Then from OOS Shell, Neal, and Cross teams are already offering or thinking about offering, and right now I would say we lead for Neal, and couldn't really ask to be in better situation for Shell and Cross...

JC Shurburtt: Elite Texas prospects star at Dallas Under Armour Combine - ESPN

Quote:
The next Prime Time?

Class of 2012 prospect Deion Sanders Jr. (Cedar Hill, Texas/Cedar Hill) looked very mature for his age and extremely athletic. The son of the former NFL star of the same name, Sanders has quickness and explosiveness and will only develop and get better.

Sanders also posted an outstanding shuttle time of 4.31 seconds. During the one-on-one and seven-on-seven portions of the event, Sanders worked out as a receiver and runs excellent routes and has very good hands.

McGowan is absolutely massive, but in a put together way. Nice kid, and the coaches say he plays w/ some nasty on the field.

Would like to add Keith Byars II and Sevon Pittman to the mix. Would love to land Dunn, Byars and Shell in that class. Likely a pipe dream at this point.

Cross has now been offered by South Carolina. Imani Had around 160 yards and 3 touchdowns on 10 carries in the scrimmage last week.

Twin Stacks

Just wanted to add to the keep an eye out list. These two show OSU as their top interest and I'm curious if twins have ever been recruited. Either way these two seem to be filling out pretty well. DV powerhouse Ursuline so they play plenty of DI and DII talent through the season.

Mark Porter's info was from Freshman year

ScoutingOhio - Ty Vasquez-Atkins

ScoutingOhio - Troy Vasquez - Atkins

That's really cool! It seems to me that Ty (the taller one) would play OT while Troy would play DT. They definitely have the size.

'12 IA QB/ATH Charles Rogers

Here's a couple of articles on a 2012 recruit Scout spotted on an unofficial visit for the Wisconsin game:

IowaPrepSports.com

Quote:
West (2-3) dominated Prairie (3-2) on both sides of the ball, rushing for 211 yards and throwing for 125. Much of that was due to quarterback Charles Rogers, West?s all-everything quarterback.

Rogers rushed for 165 yards on 17 carries and also threw for 122 yards on five completions. Rogers connected with Foelsch for 15 yards to score the game?s first touchdown to give West a 10-0 lead.
Press-Citizen.com

Quote:

West High quarterback Charles Rogers, left, looks for a way around Cedar Rapids Washington defenders Michael Daughtery (40), Joel Gasway (56) and Saxon Dolan (13) while offensive lineman Jacob Gannon, right, tries to block during the first half of their game Thursday at Kingston Stadium in Cedar Rapids.

Rushing--West High: Charles Rogers 25-70
Passing--West High: Charles Rogers 13-16-0-164

A couple of Sophs to keep your eyes on have surfaced recently. Louisville starting QB, senior Bobby Swigart went down with injury. His replacement Chad Neff, a sophomore has been exceptional in replacing him the last two games. The article also mentions 2012 RB Lucas Poyser. Undefeated Louisville is ranked #1 in the state Div 2 computer polls.
From the Canton Repository
Louisville pounds Carrollton, 52-0 | FridayNightOhio.com
Quote:
Louisville sophomores Chad Neff and Lucas Poyser ran wild as the Leopards (7-0, 4-0) broke the 50-point mark for the third straight year against Carrollton.
Neff, getting his first start at quarterback, simply ran through tackles, his long strides leaving defenders trying to hold on. Poyser used his quick feet to make the Warriors miss as he earned his fourth-straight 100-yard rushing game.
Neff finished with 169 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries. He also completed two short passes and had a potential 25-yard TD pass dropped.
In a little more than three quarters of action during the last two weeks, Neff has 341 yards rushing and six TDs.
Poyser had 121 yards and three TDs on 13 carries Friday. His 27-yard TD run late in the first quarter included a cut and a hop that would have made Barry Sanders smile.
?You can?t really say anything,? Farrah said of the sophomore duo. ?Just watch them play.?
Neff broke three tackles en route to a 44-yard touchdown run and a 21-0 Louisville lead in the second quarter. That play more than doubled Carrollton?s yardage to that point.
