Well yeah, I'm assuming that you can't just take official visits to any school you like. I assume there's some sort of invitation process.

Agreed. I am surprised as well, that he is going to be on an official visit when no written offer has been extended. I am guessing that is mainly a formality at this time.

I think that is accurate. If he visits, shows genuine interest, and the staff likes him, i think he gets an offer. Losing the DT recruit to Duke and Hankins needing to still qualify, puts Sahrrif in play. Not a great year for interior DL's. I dont think the staff reaches. If they cannot land a stud, they wait until next year IMO. It takes a year or two for a DT to adapt to tOSU system.

That said, - We have offered plenty of longshots before and landed some of them at the end. -Floyd is planning an official visit here so it doesn't look like he is such a long shot. -I don't know what kind of a player Floyd is (not watched his film or anything) but I don't understand the "he is ranked high in Rivals, so we should have offered him already" posts. Just to give some perspective, and not necessarily saying history will repeat itself, but do you remember the last highly recruited, offers from all over the country DT prospect from Philly? Yes, it is none other than the famous "Ann Arbor" lion, Marques Slocum. |

![]() In any case, he's ranked high by both recruiting classes. Reminds me a bit of the Tajh Boyd recruitment, though he was offered very late. Hope we land him eventually. |

8/17 By Farrell...Penn State, Southern Cal, Rutgers, Miami, Michigan, Illinois and UCLA are in the mix for an official...also considering BC and UNC where he has already visited...OSU has been dropped because he didn't know if he had an offer or not. |

Floyd working on USC visit date > Palmetto Sports Recruiting News
August 22, 2009 Floyd working on USC visit date By Phil Kornblut DL Sharrif Floyd (6-3 311) of Philadelphia wants to make his official visit to USC the weekend of the Clemson game according to a source familiar with his plans. That would be the weekend after Thanksgiving, November 27-29. The hangup for that weekend could be the playoffs. Should Floyd's team advance deep into the post-season, he likely would be playing a game that weekend. Floyd plans to take official visits to USC and Florida. He's also looking at Penn State and Ohio State. |

Rivals
From Farrell's Weekly Whispers - Sharrif Floyd has set his 5 officials visits that does not include OSU, however, OSU sent Sharrif another written offer. It appears the first offer was sent to the wrong place. As a side note, USC also sent his offer to the wrong place. Last edited by ElyriaBuckeye; 09-12-2009 at 08:03 AM. |
