Braxton has played a brutal schedule so far, but the kid is still putting up great numbers. Duane Long said he is the best player he has ever seen in Ohio. And he is only a junior.
180 YPG (140 passing, 40 rushing), 45% completion percentage, 8 TDs, 7 Turnovers. |

he's talking about the wide open, down for leaving ohio part...

I think he's just pointing out that the hyperbole on Braxton is a tad bit ridiculous. Which you have to admit, it is.
Braxton is a great talent for sure, but people need to chill out in regards to him. |

I think a good example this year is Montana. He gets a ton of hype because of who is father is and because of his high school. should be happy that they got Graham instead, who is a much better QB than Montana. IMHO, Trey DePriest, Chris Rock, Steve Miller and Ken Hayes are all better prospects for tOSU than Braxton. Then again, being a Michigan fan, maybe I'm just bitter that we won't even get a look. |

Barkley wasn't being hyped as much by the California recruiting "gurus" as much as Braxton is getting hyped by people from Ohio first of all. Barkley wasn't completing 45% of his passes either. He was in the mid 60% range, which is what you expect. Barkley also had a terrific JR year where he really put up some monster stats and completed like 70% of his passes. Braxton's JR year he completed around 50% of his passes before he went down with the injury. The film tells me exactly what I thought about Braxton before I knew of his stats. He's very talented, but he's pretty raw and people need to chill. |

Ummmm...no.
Clausen was the most hyped prospect maybe ever. Barkley was rated high, very high, but he wasn't rated as the #1 overall player by Scout or Rivals or Tom Lemming. Clausen was rated as the #1 rated player by all 3. Rivals and Tom Lemming tried to say that Clausen as a HS JR was better than anybody in the HS SR class. I suggest you go back and read a lot of those articles.
Barkley was also number one for a huge portion of the time the rankings were out IIRC. I guess I just don't see how you can claim the number one QB recruit in the country who committed to USC didn't get a lot of hype compared to Braxton. |

Rivals: 5*, #1 pro-style QB, #1 in California, #5 nationally Scout: 5*, #1 QB, #1 in California, #2 nationally ESPN: 93/100, #1 QB, #1 in California, #1 nationally Yep, Barkley got no hype at all.... ![]() BTW, it turns out that the hype was deserved, but Barkley was still one of the most hyped prospects EVER. Something tells me that if Braxton were a Michigan lean right now, then you wouldn't be too "chill" about his potential. |

I HAVE seen people make those claims about Braxton. I have seen people say things like Braxton is the best HS player in Ohio ever and other ridiculous things of that nature. |

And again, nobody from California was calling Barkley the best CA prospect ever or the best prospect out of CA in 25 years. People from Ohio ARE saying that kind of hyperbole about Braxton though. Braxton isn't a Michigan lean and even if he was I would be saying the same things I am right now. He's got tons of talent but he's raw, and people need to chill out on the "best ever from Ohio" stuff. |
