UGA and Alabama are co-leaders for No. 1 DT
By Michael Carvell
UGA has caught up with Alabama and is now a co-leader for Elisha Shaw, the state?s No. 1 prospect at defensive tackle.
?Alabama and Georgia are like the same,? the Tucker High School star told the AJC on Wednesday. ?That?s why they are my top two. Both of them are equal for me right now. I?m just going to keep riding it out until I find the difference in them.?
Last month, Shaw said UGA and Alabama were his co-leaders after he attended the G-Day spring game. However, Shaw visited Alabama the following week for A-Day and told al.comthat ?Alabama?s definitely No. 1 on my list now.?
A month later, both SEC schools are listed as equals for Shaw but UGA may have the chance to move ahead this weekend. He is making an unofficial visit with the Bulldogs on late Friday night to hang out with his former teammate at Tucker, UGA linebacker Josh Dawson.
The 6-foot-5, 300-pounder is also expected to get some personal time with Mark Richt, who didn?t get to speak with Shaw at G-Day.
What does the 4-star like specifically about Alabama and UGA?
?Coach (Nick) Saban, man, he?s a great coach,? Shaw said. ?They train all their players to win. That?s why they win. They get the coaching, and they also work out hard. It?s just like Geogria, you know. They all work out like that.?
Shaw has 20 early scholarship offers but has only visited UGA and Alabama. He plans to visit Miami, Ohio State and ?pretty much everybody? this summer. Shaw will announce his decision in January.
