How many of you use strategy guides with your games?
I have started using them with the "Call of Duty" series and it really helps, plus I enjoy readingt he history information in the books. I bought one for NCAA '06 to help with recruiting, but I have not found myself using it that much.

Strategy guide to help with recruiting?... I'm curious as to how many hints it can give you other than saying to find interested prospects, and use the right pitch and as many points as possible. |

Hints on recruiting? Is there a secret formula? Like they tell you if you need 1 guy it is better to recruit only 1 compared to recruiting 3-4 and take whoever commits first?
But overall strategy guides are a rip off. Unless you have some super hard strategy game or an indepth simulation.
The only strategy guide I ever buy is for Gran Turismo since it has a huge car guide in it and lets you know what cars you unlock for certain races. Now that is worth it. But otherwise they are a waste.

gamefaq's has some pretty good walkthroughs, which I use sometimes to find easter eggs or other arbitrary sub-missions during games like GTA.

You can find most walkthroughs and custom strategy guides online. The only strategy guide i use is for World of Warcraft, specifically for raiding dungeons. Gives you tips on how to beat a certain area and a map of the entire dungeon with locations of different things. Also tells you what loot can be dropped from which boss.
I have used walkthroughs before for games but those you find online. I mostly used them for Myst, Riven, Exile...that series. After playing for 4 hours and not getting anywhere it became frustrating.

Not necessarily, however I really enjoy the tidbits about history and the specs on the different weapons used during the war. I have always enjoyed learning about WWII and for me, the guides just seem to make the game better. In addition, you can get the guides on e-bay for around $2 plus shipping and handling.
