Swallow your pride and take the easy way out against Sephiroth. Use a bunch of those upgrades and stuff. Don't try to beat him the hard way. It takes too long, imo.

Currently playing Rock Band 1 (Since I don't have 2) and Soul Calibur IV (My created character, Fruit Juice, is a stereotypical skinny Japanese girl with Astaroth's moveset). By the way, if you play SC4, don't use Hilde. Worst character in game, imo.

finished The Force Unleashed... good game. Gets better in the later levels, though the destroyer "boss" is really annoying (hint: line it up yourself, much faster than following their commands). If not for the awful targeting system I'd bump it up to an 8.

Guitar Hero Aerosmith, same ole game, slight variations. Played it twice and got bored.

Starting 'Pure', fun ATV game. Entertaining, it has flashes of sheer fun/adrenaline, but stumbles at times. Don't like how you're locked into a path (if there are two parallel paths, you often can't jump from one to the other), as it sucks you back into your track, sometimes spinning you out a bit.

Starting Lego Batman with the wife this weekend.

Ditto...the kids are huge Lego star wars fans... I assume Lego Batman will be similar to those. I'd love to hear what you think about it.

The visuals are great.

The review I read made the game sound pretty cool.

The neat part is the upgradability and versatility of your machine. Along the way you make a billion choices on various parts, most of which have tradeoffs (slightly better accel, but less handling. or better at tricks, but less boost.)

It's a lot of fun so far. A little bit of repetition in some of the tracks, but an enjoyable game.

Definitely a rental. The world tour only has 10 stages, and each stage has 4 events. I'm about half done after a few days, and I've been going back and making sure I ace every one (get first). Otherwise I think I might have advanced nearly to the end by now.

Pure continues to be a lot of fun. Still a little bit of 'bumper pool' glitching. On steep uphill banked turns (like the racetrack toy cars which would run up the wall), the camera rotates upside down and the slightest bump can trick the computer into thinking you've crashed. The reset after a crash is completely random and frustrating (can take 1 sec, can take many). Similar breakdowns in physics when you bump a rock or stone, or get spun out towards a wall. Still minor concerns with the overall fun.

But there's always the "You came 1st" message.

Lego Batman is a pretty big disappointment. Indiana Jones was a large dropoff from Star Wars, in part because of the options and mystique that come with Force powers, but it still pulled off an entertaining game. It was worth renting, just not a must play like Lego Star Wars.

Batman just isn't that fun. They tried hard to be cute with all of the villians and various storylines, but the main characters just aren't that fun. You occasionally pickup power ups in the form of suits, where Batman can destroy glass, or brave hot temperatures. Robin picks up a suit that lets him collect lego pieces and trade them in for things (which are the same as those you would build from scraps, just painfully more drawn out).

Pass on Batman. Lego Star Wars was a great game, Indiana Jones was just good (due to the high standard of SW), Batman is a yawner.

Made it through about 3 chapters. The wife didn't even like it, and these are really her only types of games (nintendo-esque games or racing).

To its credit, LEGO Batman throws everything and the kitchen sink into the mix. There's a robust cast of characters you'll play as throughout the six acts. The first three acts put you in control of Batman and Robin. There's no switching things up, but don't worry, each has a number of powered suits that can be worn that provide special abilities. Robin has a magnetic suit that allows him to walk up metal walls, Batman has a demolition suit so he can blow stuff up (he is known for such acts of wanton violence, right?). These along with a handful of other suits keep things interesting.

The second half of the adventure puts you on the side of the villains. You'll get to see the flip side of each act and learn how the each member of the Batman rogues gallery sets up his or her master plan. These levels end prior to your showdown with Batman and Robin, I guess to keep the villains from ever having a chance of winning. Even though Batman's name is on the marquee, the villains steal the show. Each Arkham escapee has their own special powers, making each unique. Poison Ivy can make enemies sick with a kiss, the Joker can give joybuzzer shocks to anyone he grabs, Mr. Freeze can put anyone into cold storage, and the Riddler can take control of susceptible civilians and make them do his bidding.

I didn't make it to this part, not sure if I'm really that desperate or not.

While much of LEGO Batman is about mashing a button and beating enemies senseless (and destroying the LEGO environment), there are some refreshing breaks. Just about every act has one vehicle level. In these levels, you control a plane, car, or boat and shoot your way through numerous enemies while headed towards a boss battle. This turns LEGO Batman into a pure shooter and while these levels are brief, they provide a welcome change of pace.

This part was fun, though a little awkward at times. 2D overhead racing/shooter.

Check the edited quotes, perhaps the later guys are more entertaining. I certainly wouldn't buy it imo, but maybe rent it if you've got nothing else you're dying to play.

Playing Fable and the Fable 2 Pub Games that you get when you preorder Fable 2. The Pub Games are addicting, and really frustrating. I have my debt down to 360 gold, after being about 3000 gold in the hole..

Now onto my two recent mistakes:

I thought Baja (something or other, 4x4 racing) was the worst game I'd ever played (far behind nearly every Xbox 1 racing game), then I made the mistake of renting fusion frenzy 2 (since nothing else useful was in stock). I enjoyed the original, simple games, worth the 5 or 10 I paid for it. Do not under any circumstances play FF 2. Besides awful games, it assaults you with non-stop idiocy from the annoucer/DJ. You will go insane if you leave it in long enough. "This is the most epic battle I've ever seen!" "Well, have you figured out the controls yet?" "Remember competitors, panic is not allowed!"

I played the FIFA demo, it wasn't too bad (though I must say I know nothing about soccer and soccer video games).



I'm just waiting for Fable 2 now.
