But if he does get hurt... I probably would be forced to get Fitgerald & Boldin involved somehow ![]() |

The bidding on Free Agency is open now. If you bid 1 point on Player A and someone else wants him, he can bid 2, 3, etc. points. You can choose to go higher or let the other guy have him. It's basically an auction. I don't want this to take too long, though. I figure if no one outbids you for a player after 24 hours than the player is yours. You can sign whoever you want as long as your cap total is 330 or below by the time the season starts. My goal is to start the season by Sunday at the latest. I play Carolina in Week 1 and I'm heading out of town on Tuesday. I need to get that game in before I leave. If everybody is happy with their teams before then then we can start early. Just to recap:

So any FA regardless of OVR, the bidding begins at 1? If you win that player do we then use the chart to find how many points they count against the team, or do we use what we "paid" in the auction?

I think it's what you paid in the auction. It sounds like the chart is used more for valuing existing players and draft picks.

Also, how shall we handle the auction? In this thread? Or maybe create a new thread just for that as it would really clog this thread with a bunch of junk. Or are we going to go with another process?
reminds me... I better check out what free agents are out there as I still haven't messed with Madden much yet. |

That was my understanding as well

Here's an example:
The highest rated Free Agent QB is Brian Griese (67 OVR, 77 THP, 84 THA). According to the chart, a 67 OVR player is worth 4 points. Iron and I just HAVE to have him. I could bid 1, but since he's the highest rated QB, I'll bid 4. Iron wants him, so he bids 5. I bid 6, he bids 7, I say the hell with it and Iron gets him for 7. Hell, we could have gone up to 100. It doesn't matter. What matters is that Iron now has a 67 OVR player who adds 7 points to his cap, bringing his point total up from 327 to 334. He now needs to cut somebody to get back down to the 330 cap. We might as well keep this thread for free agents. This is only going to happen pre and post season, not during the season. |

I'll start it off:
ROLB Derrick Brooks (77 OVR): Worth 6 points: I'll bid 5. |

6 on Brooks
7 on McAllister so I'm clear, 24 hours from the first bid is when the player is awarded, right? |

If we do 24 hours from the first bid, someone can just wait until one minute before the clock runs out and bid 1 higher. If we do 24 hours from the final bid, this thing could drag on forever. How about 24 hours from the final bid, but this thing is over on Saturday, 8/22 by 11:59pm EST no matter what? Edit: You can see the list of free agents at the Online Franchise website. Go to Rosters, click on Add/Drop players, and the Free Agents are listed in the right hand column. |

![]() I think the deadline should be close to when we want to officially start. So if the official launch date of our league will be Sunday, then Saturday at midnight sounds like a good call. |
