National Prep Showcase Tips Off Friday

Davon Jefferson
By Dave Telep
National Recruiting Director
Date: Nov 16, 2005
The National Prep Tip-Off Showcase gets going this Friday with a pair of veteran coaches, but the main event comes on Saturday night at 7:30 when Patterson's Davon Jefferson goes up against Notre Dame Prep's Paul Harris.
Davon Jefferson vs. Paul Harris. Derrick Caracter against Vernon Macklin. Patterson School against Notre Dame Prep.
Those are just a few of the storylines for this weekend’s National Prep Tip-Off Showcase, which begins Friday at 1 p.m. with two of the most successful coaches in prep school history, Fork Union Military Academy’s Fletcher Arritt, and St. Thomas More’s Jere Quinn, going up against one another.
The event will feature nearly all of the elite prep school teams in the country and has moved from Voorhees, N.J., where it was held last year, to St. Andrew’s School in Barrington, Rhode Island.
Things get started Friday with five games and go until Sunday. Already more than a dozen NBA teams have requested credentials to watch the Jefferson-Harris matchup.
There will be more than 75 unsigned seniors who are likely to play Division 1 basketball next season. That doesn’t include the likes of Harris (Syracuse), Caracter (Louisville), Macklin (Georgetown) and more than 40 others who have already inked national letters of intent to play college ball next fall.
The following is the schedule for the event. For more information, please call 508-397-8936 or preptipoff@aol.com
