GAHANNA -- The Newark boys basketball team knew it had clinched at least a tie for the Ohio Capital Conference-Ohio Division championship Friday night when it defeated Gahanna 67-51. It took less than two minutes after that for the Wildcats to learn they had earned it outright. Wildcats earn No. 2 seed
POWELL -- The Newark boys basketball team found out Sunday just how much respect its 17-1 overall record and its impressive 15-0 run against Central District competition is worth. The Wildcats received the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Division I Central District tournament. In voting conducted by all 38 Division I coaches in the district, Northland received 20 first-place votes to Newark's 18 to edge the Wildcats for the top seed by 11 points.
