Glenville !!!!!

i doubt if anyone saw it, but at 5:15 on NBC Glenville won the 4x1 at the Penn Relays. Man I love watching those guys run. I was so pumped and excited after that race, I can't remember the last time I was that jacked up.

Cannot WAIT to see them run at the State Meet in early June here in C-bus.

Glenville had a great showing in the 4x400, finishing in 5th place with a blistering time of 3:17.37. The 4x100 also put up great times of 41.11 and 41.60

Also of note, Buckeye WR recruiting target Derrick Williams of Eleanor Roosevelt (MD) ran in both heats against the Glenville boys. Hopefully Teddy did a little recruiting for us.

Results

Freddie Lenix, 1st leg, Glenville, Ohio:
"This isn't my first time at the relays. We were here last year, but we dropped the baton going into the final leg. We been working hard for this... Being the lead off and on the outside lane, I didn't feel I had to chase anybody. There was no one in front of me, and I knew I just had to get out there. This feels really great winning a world class championship. We knew we could do it, but accomplishing it is what matters... I'm a junior and I have one more year to come back."</< b>

Theodore Ginn, 2nd leg:
"Being in lane 9 we knew that we wouldn't have anyone in front of us. I knew if we had a clean hand off we would take it through the curve, get to our anchor, and he would bring it home... I was involved in the dropped handoff last year, so I am relieved that this is over, and I'm just so happy that we won.... I want to dedicate this to our school district. They're trying to take the sports away from our schools, and I want to dedicate this to our schoolsw, because its important to keep the sports in the schools." </< b>

Jamario O'Neal, Anchor:
"I knew that my third leg was going to come through with keeping the lead, so all I had to do was take it from there. I think Camden was just behind us, but I ran a strong leg, so I knew he wasn't going to catch me... This is my first time at the Relays. I'm a junior so I'm hoping to be back again next year."
</< b>

Stephen Fuqua, 3rd leg:
"My feeling once I got the baton was that I just didn't want to get caught. I wanted them to chase me. I knew Jamaica had a good team, they had the fastest time coming into here, but they weren't going to get me. As the underdog, I think we surprised a lot of people. Nobody really expected us to win here... The Relays are really something. We never get to run with this kind of a crowd, so this is special for all of us. "</< b>

Congrats to Glenville!

Yeah, how about Teddy dedicating the win to the entire school district. Pretty mature for a high school kid.

Lancaster (TX) and Glenville (Cleveland, OH) hooked up again for a second time Saturday night, this time for all the marbles. This time it was the Cleveland squad that lit up the capacity crowd at Paul Derr Track with a win in 1:23.78.

The Clevelanders lined up with Freddie Lenix, Stephon Fuqua, Jamario O’Neal and Ted Ginn Jr. It was Ginn’s great anchor leg that put away the race.

“Freddie popped it off, then Fuqua did his thing,” said Ginn, who qualified for Sunday’s 110m hurdles final earlier in the day and anchored Glenville’s relay team in the heats of the 4x100m. “Things were pretty equal on the backstretch. Then when I got the baton, I knew it was showtime.

Lancaster and Glenville square off again Sunday in the 4x100 final. “Lancaster’s a good team,” Ginn added. “They run hard.”

Rodrick Stewart, who anchored the Texas quartet, called the Lancaster-Glenville matchups “a rivalry” and said Sunday’s 4x100 final “will be something to see.” Lancaster is the national leader in the event with a time of 40.28.

“I’m not going to guarantee a victory,” added Stewart. “But it’ll be a race.”

Holy Shi'ite! Can you imagine the Buckeye secondary with Whitner, Ginn, O'Neal, and Lennix in it? No way that any other team in college, including Miami, could claim their defense to be faster. Linebacker Curtis Terry won't hurt our speed, either.

Heres the write up about the 4x100

Quote:
Glenville (Cleveland, OH) continued to dominate the short sprints at the adidas Outdoor Championships. The foursome of Freddie Lenix, Daven Jones, Stephon Fuqua and Ted Ginn Jr. defeated Lancaster (TX) for the second time in less than 24 hours, 40.51 to 40.89.

“We knew our first two legs had to go out fast,” said Fuqua. “That’s Lancaster’s weakest legs. Then me and Teddy did our job.”

Third place went to Glenville’s ‘B’ team in 41.13.

Friday, the Cleveland crew defeated the Texans for the 4x200 title. Glenville is scheduled to run again Saturday in the 4x400.

Unbelievable... a win in the 4x400 would make it a 4-way Glenville sweep. Never seen so many athletes on one high school team.

Go Tarblooders

Glenvilles "A" team finished second in the 4x400 with time of 3:13.44.

Ginn did win the 110h.

Quote:

Showing fine form, Ted Ginn Jr. (Cleveland, OH) took control midway through the race and was never challenged. Ginn, a member of two victorious Glenville relay teams this meet, finished in 13.46 with a headwind of 0.2 meters per second.

Julius Jiles-Tindall (Kansas City, MO) was well back in second place with a 13.84 time, with David Whitehurst (Tinton Falls, NJ) third in 13.94.

Jason Richardson (Cedar Hill, TX), hoping for a hurdles double at this meet, failed to finish.

Ginn, an blue-chip track and football prospect who’s headed for Ohio State, wanted to clear the air. “Coming into the hurdles race, there was a lot of talk about stuff I didn’t say,” he told NSSF. “People were saying I was arrogant.”

Ginn mentioned Richardson, his chief rival in the hurdles, and said he tried to set the record straight. “I came to talk to him man-to-man,” he says. “I’m not arrogant. I’m not a track star, I’m a football player. I’ve used track to get in shape for football. I don’t talk. I just go out there and do it.”

I looks like it was a good weekend for Glenville
