Glenville - general thread
Just had to mention how impressed I am with Coach Ginn and what he has done. I have never met the man, but would like to. I believe he had something like eight kids sign commitment letters yesterday. How amazing is that for a school in a tough part of town.
People keep speculating that he will end up on the OSU staff and I for one hope he does not. I think he is more valuable for everyone to continue to do the great work right there in Cleveland. It sounds as though he just keeps on getting kids on the right track and preparing them to be good people.
Also, how great was that picture of his reaction to his son's signing! What a wonderful moment for a father. Kudos to Coach Ted Ginn, Sr. and everything you have done. Keep up the hard work as we all benefit from it.

Everyone keeps mentioning him for a spot on the staff. I dont get it.
In what we have seen from him he is a greater man than he is a coach. He is really helping these kids but from their succes on the field, I have to think that he is not the greatest X's and O's guy.

Isn't that what you are looking for first in a coach? And
not to be disrespectful, but Coach Ginn does more coaching
than any coach in this area. I guess you have to see his
teams play to see it.

Your right Ram, I could be completely off. I am just looking at the talent at Glenville and they never seem to win as many games as you would expect a team of their talent. Maybe the problem is with the lower leagues not coaching fundamental like they should?
My point was that he is doing a greater service to the community by helping these kids on a case to case basis than he would helping OSU win games in the film room.

Regarding Coach Ginn, you don't need to go to heaven to see an angel.

I have to agree with everyone about Coach Ginn. Look how many D1 shollies he helped his kids get this year and what a great a story about what Coach Ginn did to help Curtis Terry.
Here's hoping he continues at Glenville helping these young kids achieve their dreams.

Regarding Coach Ginn,
I met him and the Glenville crew before the MSU game last year. He seemed like a good guy, real easy going. Nothing but praise for Tress, as he calls him. Just as Tressel would never want to leave for the NFL, Coach Ginn has found his true calling at Glenville. He molds these inner city kids into men and gives them a chance few kids get... that's just what he does.

The one thing I worry about with Ginn is potential recruiting violations. Sometimes he seems to get closer to the kids than the NCAA (and maybe OHSAA) would allow. Not to say I don't agree with what he is doing. I just think he might be getting close to fuzzy because of the way the rules are.
It is interesting to see Tressel give some Ginn kids a shot. Between the two of them, they can really make a huge difference in the life of a kid like Terry. A HS and now a college education, coming from his background is huge. Doesn't matter if this kid never plays a down. This is the type of situation where these two guys have actually made a difference in someones life. Hopefully it pays off on the football field too, but it really doesn't matter much.

Don't worry, some clown on Bucknuts will start with the "Ginn has no morals" thread. It's inevitable.
