Trotwood-Madison Rams

If Mike decided to come to Michigan that it'd be awesome for the Wolverines, because he's a solid player, one of the very best in the state of Ohio for his class. I think they'd start him out at DB, but they could always switch him back to RB pretty quickly if need be.

I realize Trotwood is D1 and Alter is D3, but Alter is a top notch D3 school and the talent they put out is nothing to scoff at. Shaw had a better line to run behind last year than he will have this year imo. There may be better athletes around him at T-Wood, but the OL was certainly in place at Alter. I do think he is a sleeper though just because it appears he has been making drastic improvements to his game and is far from a finished product. I will admit that he will be on a bit bigger scale at T-Wood and better competition, but the point is that he was at a very good program before that has put out Bubba Chaffin last year and Nick Mangold 9more notably) before that. I think there is one other D1 player to come out recently at OL but can't recall who.

Mangold was forever ago. They had a kid go to Michigan St who has not sniffed the field in 3 yrs there. Outside of that there have been few and far between.
Alter is a great program. But Trotwood is going to places Alter will never get.

I still think it's a valid point that the Trotwood line will probably not be as good as the line he had at Alter. I've only seen Trotwood once, but I don't remember seeing anything special from their line.
Doesn't Trotwood also employ the shotgun a lot? That probably won't help his stats or development.

Couple of points
1-Mike did not play defense at all last year-the coaches looked at him as a S/LB last year in the pre-season, but w/ the talent on the team, kept him solely at RB
2-I would be shocked if T-wood has a better line than Alter this year. Alter has two, possibly three kids on the OL-one a junior and two seniors-who are getting D-1 attention-not saying they will sign anywhere, but they are being looked at.
3-Bubba Chaffin-who is the nicest kid in the world-he recently saved a little kid from a flipped SUV on the way to school-did not even start for Alter most of last year.
4-I think Mike is waiting for a PSU offer-he was awfully excited about them last year-although he will be in for a surprise when he visits Happy Valley and realizes it is not a big city like he was under the impression it was.....
5-T-wood fans have told me that T-wood's offensive coordinator wouldn't call a screen pass last year if his(or Dominck Britt's) life depended on it-not a good sign for Mike.

Who in their right mind would leave Alter for Trotwood? The football can't be that much better.

Surprising on Bubba but I know he was injured for camp season and maybe that had to do with it? I know he had a pretty good junior year. However, Alter's OL is very good and likely better than Trotwood's. The only thing beneficial to Mike at Trotwood is possibly more exposure and better athletes around him that might take the focus off of him. Also, Trotwood is free and Alter is quite expensive...not sure if that had anything to do with it, but it's something to keep in mind.

Trotwood has thought that they were "going places" in football for a long time. I'll believe it when I see it. Alter was JUST in the state DIII championship game. I have a hard time believing Trotwood could make it out of the SW region anytime in the next 5 years...a bunch of good players does not add up to a winner....and those Cincinnati programs are winners.
Last time a Dayton team went to state was Wayne in 1999...led by Trotwood transfer Will Allen!
