ONN Big Game of the week
ONN shows (at least) one big game every week during the HS season.
Mentor vs. Cardinal Mooney this week. Game will be shown at 10:00 tonight, and again tomorrow morning. Mooney is loaded with D1 talent.
I'll keep it a secret and not say who won

DI runner-ups vs. the DIV champs. Should be a dandy!

Simon is getting some good pressure, he just needs to learn how to finish things off. Zordich looks awesome, hurts to know we almost took him away from PSU. The kid just does all the small things so well.

My thoughts on the game:
Bart Tanski- Stud. He makes plays happen and brings out the best in the players around him. I really didn't think he had a ton of talent around him but he made some really nice throws.
Mike Zordich- Best player on the field. Great hitter, excellent closing speed, great size, and very heady. Absolutely killed some kid on a screen. I really wish we could have landed Mike.
Dan McCarthy- Good player. He didn't really blow me away but made a nice play on the ball on defense and showed very good speed on a long TD run. He has some potential.
Brandon Beachum- Very good RB. After watching the game I am convinced that is where Brandon will play. He looks decent on defense but doesn't have the instincts imo. On offense he can find holes and cutback lanes effectively and has a nice burst. Very impressed with Beachum.
Taylor Hill- Looked okay but he is definetly not a DE in the future. I see him at LB and he showed some flashes of potential.
John Simon- The next best player on the field next to Zordich and is not far away. Simon is unblockable and is disrupting the backfield constantly. Like HotMic said, he needs to finish plays off but Simon is a 5 star player next year, mark it down. Had 3 blocks and probably around 8-9 tackles on my unofficial count.
Overall- Good game and Mentor really gave Mooney a run there for a little bit. Mentor had it's fair share of chances to be up by a couple scores in the first quarter but failed to capitilize. I still look for Mentor to make some noise this year. Mooney is a very good team though but I still think Steubenville could give them a run in D4.

Mentor's Kicker booted a 58 yarder on a College Field (narrower goal posts than high school)
If we just signed Buchanan in the class of '08 would we use a scholarship on a kicker in '09 even if he is a premier K talent?

The 58 yarder was amazing, though very surprising after he missed the shorter one (around 35-40 yards?).
