Herbstreit '08 lures champs

Seven-time Missouri state champion Rockhurst, four-time Indiana champion Warren Central and three-time Florida champ St. Thomas Aquinas are among teams verbally committed to the 2008 Kirk Herbstreit Ohio vs. USA Challenge high school football event.
Jim Herbstreit, father of event founder Kirk Herbstreit and matchmaker for the games, said Wednesday that Cincinnati powers St. Xavier, Colerain, Elder and Moeller also tentatively have agreed to play in the September 2008 event. Details are being arranged.
The event this year was held on Labor Day weekend at two venues, UC's Nippert Stadium and Canton's Fawcett Stadium.

I wonder if there will be any protesters at the event because of what Herbie said about Pryor.

I don't know what Herbie said about Pryor (don't really care either), but I would hope that the good that Kirk does for Ohio High School football would be the focus of an event like this.

When are they going to extend this down to the smaller divisions? I don't mean to sound like a homer, but the MAC would love to compete with some small schools from other states. Just curious is it a money thing? Or is that taken care of by Herbie's backers.
