Students
So ... do you think you are a fast runner? Like, really fast? If you are, here is your chance to race against Ohio State’s fastest player – Dontre Wilson, Devin Smith, etc. – at halftime of this year’s spring game!

Coach Meyer likes to have fun with the “student appreciation” practice each year (this year’s student appreciation practice will be Saturday, April 5th at 11am). Two years ago the students were on the field encircling our field goal team while it was kicking field goals. Last year some students had the chance to kick field goals. And this year we want to find out who is the fastest student on campus.

If you think you are fast, here are the details:
  1. Report to the Biggs Lobby of the Woody Hayes Athletic Center next Wednesday, March 26, at 5 p.m. for an informational session and preliminary rounds of testing.
  2. The fastest individuals who emerge from this session will compete in a series of semifinal races during our student appreciation practice on April. 5.
  3. The semifinals winner will then have a date one week later to race the fastest Ohio State Buckeye at halftime of the spring game.
This competition is only for current Ohio State students with a valid OSU ID and proof of enrollment. Spread the word and we hope to see you next Wednesday at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center! GO BUCKS!

If you have any questions please contact Fernando Lovo at [email protected].

wish they had done that a few years ago. I know I'd be one of the fastest.
Is anyone like, oh, say maybe Ted Ginn back on campus taking a class or two this spring???

Hoping we find the next Ted Ginn lurking out in the nerd herd somewhere.

Since you have really small countries (Ghana) beating really big countries (USA) in soccer, it means that there are really good potential soccer players in the big country that simply never played soccer.

Since you have more highly rated football players in certain states, it means more folks have tried football in those states.

Ergo, the next Ted Ginn is in the nerd herd.

Per wikipedia:
The fastest human footspeed on record is 44.72 km/h (27.79 mph), seen during a 100 meters sprint (average speed between the 60th and the 80th meter) by Usain Bolt

Gotta keep the campus police from issuing citations.

In the spirit of being bored, and being hyped about seeing the Circle drill for student appreciation day, here are a few matchup that would be interesting(for shits and giggles). And I tried to use guys that didnt go in the drills on student appreciation day:

Rod Smith vs Josh Perry
Warren Ball vs Darron Lee
Dontre Wilson vs Gareon Conley
Michael Hill vs Billy Price
Kyle Dodson vs Steve Miller
Darryl Baldwin vs Jamal Marcus
Marcus Baugh vs Raekwon Mcmillan
Johnnie Dixon vs Armani Reeves
Cardale Jones vs Eli Apple

How many will be going to the Spring Game? I put the over/under around 300,000. (That's not a typo - I'm just really optimistic.)

I'll guess around 30-40k. If tickets weren't $20 and rather were free I would guess twice that, maybe 60-80k.

Edit: I know they're trying to make money, but if the spring game is as big of a recruiting tool as most believe, would the sacrifice of a few hundred thousand dollars be worth the atmosphere that recruits would be taking in if the crowd was 70k vs 35k?

1. Forecast is 71-degrees and sunshine.
2. Lacrosse match vs that school up north at 11AM as an appetizer.
3. The spring game was not held in Columbus last year.

It'll be packed. Get there early.

I almost added a part about the potentially gorgeous weather (coupled with this awful winter) as a reason why maybe more people come than expected. But while you may be a big lacrosse fan, i wouldn't count that to pull in the general population who want to watch the spring game. Your last point is also valid too. Hoping for a big turnout.
