Thump

Hating the environment since 1994
  • Wow! What a freaking race so far.

    Froome crashes out.
    Contador crashes out today.

Nibali just won the tour with today' s Stage win barring a crash in my opinion.

Weather has been a huge factor thus far. A shame Talansky has has so many crashes.

Team Sky has to be sick they left Wiggins home

I have a lot going on right now and this was the year I was going to give the tour short shrift. Hasn't worked out that way with all the crash driven drama.

But as you say, barring a crash for Nibali (who has no need to take chances) the drama is over for this year.

All that said, my past experience with the tour is that when one rider out performs everyone else as Nibali did today there is often an unfortunate explanation.

Tour De France Rider Tries To Kiss Podium Girl, Gets Awkwardly Denied

After being handed the yellow jersey to signify his overall lead in the tour, Nibali received a kiss from one of the women on the podium with him. But when he tried his luck for a second time it all went a bit wrong.

    OK, is this actually true?

Apparently Some Tour de France Riders Pee On Themselves During Race To Keep Warm

    tourdepee06.jpg

Here’s Britain’s Mark Cavendish, who crashed out during the first day of this year’s Tour de France, with a tale that will make you look at this race in an entirely different way.

Peeing on the bike can have other benefits, especially if temperatures dip in the mountains or the windswept French countryside. “In races that are soaking wet and freezing cold, I like to piss myself,” Cavendish says. “It warms me up for a split second. You get warm and you don’t have to fuss around.”

It used to be common that there were no "comfort" stops. But, you pee on yourself enough and it could cause an irritation(like what happens to the elderly) that you definitely don't need in a multi-week event! Very few do it any more.
