Great article about Shelley Meyer or @spinnershells as she is know on Twitter. She is an amazing lady if you ever get the chance to meet her say hello. My wife and I met her and Gigi at a gamewatch party in Fort Myers and my wife and her still text each other quite often. Fake Urban Meyer and the real Shelley Meyer: Explaining Ohio State's most interesting Twitter relationship

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Shelley Meyer's husband sits in a Columbus restaurant eating a turkey club, and no one bothers him. No one notices him. No one knows who he is.

Because this isn't Urban Meyer, Ohio State football coach. This is Shelley's other husband, the fake one, the one from Twitter that she threatens with soap when he swears and jokes with about mowing the lawn.

"Oh, you found him, the real Fake Urban," says the Meyers' real oldest child, 23-year-old Nicki, when told later of the lunch. "I think it would be really hard for a lot of people to have that kind of relationship, but it's become legendary."

Urban Meyer's wife 'cried tears of joy' when learning Ohio State made the College Football Playoff

The hours between the end of Ohio State’s dominant 59-0 victory over Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship Saturday night and the announcement of the four College Football Playoff teams on Sunday were stressful for Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer.


Meyer sat in his Dublin, Ohio, living room, operating the remote controller as the 12:45 p.m. ET unveiling approached. When he finally learned the good news, per Sports Illustrated’s Pete Thamel, who was there with Meyer and his family and friends, Meyer “reflexively jumped out of his chair” and when he landed “his knees buckled, seemingly in disbelief.”

“I kind of melted,” Meyer said.

Meyer then embraced his daughter while his wife “cried tears of joy.”

At a certain level in corporate America, the wife (and husband in today's age) of the potential candidate is interviewed along with the husband. In an informal setting of course, such as dinner, to see whether she/he was a 'sail' or an 'anchor'. I have no doubt in my mind that Gene Smith interviewed Shelley Meyer in much the same way. She is as important to tOSU football effort as Urban is, and the above articles prove it. The 'behind every successful man is a woman' has been true for centuries. Now that can be expanded to include a husband, or significant other, I guess. Not surprising to me at all, and I am actually quite pleased that Shelley is getting the credit she deserves. Go Bucks!

Mrs. Meyer is a great lady, but I have to chuckle a bit at the statement. However, the way things are these days, I'll just bet that most of Buckeye Nation would disagree. Bless you, Shelley.
