Rippers: 01/02 full season on VHS, 03 on DVD

Now, as to my DVDs...

I have the entire 2002 season, and most of the 2003 season (thanks to Mili, for that one). However, each game is on 2 discs (except for the NCSU game, which is on 3).

How would we best handle that? One .torrent for each half? One .torrent including both halves? That last one probably makes the most sense -- but then .iso? Folders? Is there a way to merge the files and reduce them to a single disc size?

I can do the simple stuff, but if we're going to get much more complicated with these, I'll probably have to send them to a 'pro.'

On the dual 4.70 GB discs.

These are getting piped by me along or other of the following conversion routes, the routes all lead to a single file:

A - Load two primary Video_TS .VOB trees into VideoReDo Plus.
B - Join the two independent files (VideoReDo Plus is good at this at it doesn't do any demux / remux work - it is a straight pipe). Makes about a 7.5 GB intermediate file
C - Either take the the 7.5 GB file and pipe through XMPeg - thus end product is right-sized DiVX, OR:
D - If C gives errors (can happen, XMpeg and other DiVX apps can be prone to bugs) then make the DVD files and Shrink with DVD Shrink to custom ratio -- OR, Just pipe through ULead MovieFactory's less flexible version of DVD Shrinking.

Either way you should get one large DVD file tree.

E - Either way the delivered content is then converted to .iso images and burned to Disc.

I'll get back on the VHS to DVD route - MTBF has struck my old and venerable VCR players. I am far from being out of ideas on handling the issue, but I'll share with Clarity by PM the issues being faced.

Fwiw I am converting vhs to vob files. am also getting around to getting video redo in order to edit and it can also join vob files easily as Sandgk says. I am trying the trial version right now to see what all it can do.
As to the issue of each game done on two discs , a lot of that is for quality, as the faster the burn or conversion time the better the quality from vcr to dvd.
No clue if that maters if we were to combine two dvd's into one.

For the KState game, I extracted the DVD's to mpeg using MPEGStreamClip, combined the two files and fixed the timing sequence. From there I compress to one *.mp4 file @ 1200-1400 kbps using the H.264 standard. End result is a 1.7-1.9 GB file that has decent quality. I'll encode the '03 PSU game tonight, hopefully.

I'll look into figuring out how to author a DVD from the original MPEG stream. Right now I'm doing this all on my Mac, so keep that in mind. What used to be my main workstation PC has been scavenged for parts to make my fileserver (which is serving the torrents now) and frankly, I don't have time to put it back together just yet.

MPEGStreamClip, Sounds like a nice application - only problem is the QT support requirement, which can screw with other settings on a Windows machine. (But I'm certain it would be great on a Mac - ah, well whenever I get my hobby machine).

I have figured out how to convert the vob to mpeg and how to edit out the commercials on the trial version of Video redo. pretty easy once you get the knack of it. So now I will buy the program and start uploading all of Clarity's vhs tapes and all I have access to. We should end up with quite a library.
