How to evaluate a cornerback...

I don't agree with that- Jenkins has slipped in performance a bit this year (compared to last), and as of right now, I don't think Jenkins is the best DB the Buckeyes have in the defensive backfield. Jenkins happens to be our marquee, but I think there are players who are contributing more right now (namely, the younger, hungrier guys).

He probably doesn't look as good because the rest of the football world now realizes it is a mistake to regularly throw his way.......
Hence his numbers (picks and passes broken up) are probably going to suffer....

No, it's a personal evaluation. Trust me, I have more expertise than your average Joe. Moving forward, you evidently don't have anything productive to add. Are you an attention whore? Why would you make that comment?

i'm not an attention whore. i just assumed you weren't insane, so i figured you must be engaging in illicit activities. i made that comment because
1) when Malcom is playing the corner spot, the QB doesn't ever throw his way, indicating that he has his man covered every time... which leads to us seeing Washington and Chekwa breaking up passes left and right, and
2) when he's playing the safety spot, he's been all over the field, has picked off a pass, and broken up several more, and
3) he's been an unholy terror against the run and in the screen game... think a bigger Antoine Winfield.
there's a reason he's projecting as a top ten pick. that reason is NOT that he has regressed this year.

I'm basing my evaluation on the plays in which he's been involved, not the plays in which he hasn't. I explained my reasons earlier in this thread (pursuit angles, several missed tackles/reads, etc.). He's played well, but I think he played at a higher level last year. Again, I don't think Malcolm is a poor player by any stretch.

Just beacause he played college football doesn't mean he is any smarter than anyone else. [begin sarcasm]I mean Charlie Weiss never played college ball and he has a strategic advantage on every team in college ball[end of sarcasm]
To only judge Malcom based on plays he has been involved in is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. What about the 20-25 pass plays a game when the ball isn't thrown his direction. Those have to be included in the analysis of a player.

That's for being my buddy in a dark alley, there, Thump.
LV: In all reality, I played with some guys who didn't know a single stunt or pre-snap read. I did try to absorb as much as I could and I can see some things at times that only a trained eye may be able to see. With that being said, I'm certainly not trying to insult anyone and my opinion is just that (one man's opinion)- I don't want to appear to be insulting, especially not towards Malcom. He has improved of late in my eyes as it seemed the first few games were the bumpiest. If you were able to be a fly on the wall in film session, you may have heard much the same. However, everyone gets insulted in those sessions.
I hope you didn't take the "attention whore" suggestion to heart, only messing around.
