Wow, just saw Herbie on SportsCenter saying the whole thing is a "joke" and a "witch hunt". Went on to blast the players and say that he is fully behind Rodriguez. He is a Buckeye, right?

Would have been nice to have him come out in defense of Coach Tressel when all of that bull[censored] was going on with Clarett/Troy Smith.
But what did he say? "If I was the parent of an offensive recruit I wouldn't steer them to Ohio State." Nice Herbie. Don't get me wrong. I have no problem with him coming out in defense of Rich Rod (I think this whole thing is just a minor symptom of something deeper and way more serious). It just would have been helpful to Ohio State if he had said ANYTHING in defense of the program when espin was having their own witchhunt. |

Herbie is as big of a ESPN media drone as there is
he says what ESPN tells him to, to get an audience and a reaction |

Yes, he is, and because of it, he seemingly feels obliged to take every conceivable opportunity to show how "objective" he is by saying things that one wouldn't necessarily expect a Buckeye to say. He seems to me like the small-town working class kid who became very successful and is embarrassed to have his successful friends meet his family.

FWIW, if he was a homer, then his value as a broadcaster would be far less. Even more important than impartiality is the appearance of impartiality. That he does well. And if you really expect him to favor his alma mater with statements of support when the ESpin heads want him to say something else -over the millions of dollars he earns for his family working for ESPN, then your priorities are not straight.
My family is more important then the Gators, no matter how much I love them or how much I bleed orange and blue. |

I've actually met his brother, but I also wholeheartedly agree with that statement.
