Jamal Womble is an outstanding running back prospect for the Class of 2008 from Sierra Vista Buena H.S. in Arizona. Jamal enjoyed a stellar junior season for the Colts, amassing over 1200 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns to earn All-Region honors. This was on the heels of a very solid sophomore campaign that saw Jamal rush for 732 yards and 8 touchdowns. These accomplishments were good enough to earn Jamal an invite to San Antonio this January for the Junior All-American combine. Jamal enjoyed a great combine, earning second team honors at running back on Scout.com's All-Combine Team. Jamal's recruiting interest is starting to take off, but the BPRT was able to catch up with him to have him complete this edition of the "Straight 6".
BPRT: When you think of Ohio State football, what comes to mind?
JW: Tradition, Eddie George and Championships.
BPRT: What position would you prefer to play in college and why?
JW: Running back. I love having the ball and being in control of where I am running. It is fun and I think I can help out the team if I am at that spot.
BPRT: This is your senior year...what goals have you set personally and for your team?
JW: I haven't really thought about any personal goals yet but as far as the team goes we are looking to improve on our last season and take state.
BPRT: When your career is over, how would you like people to remember Jamal Womble?
JW: I would like people to not only remember me as the great football player that I hopefully will be someday, but also as a great person to be around that made people better.
BPRT: If you were analyzing yourself on film, what would you list as your strengths and what needs some work?
JW: I would have to list my power and speed as my biggest strengths and my weakness as consistency. I tend to bounce out runs sometimes instead of just sticking my nose in there and getting 2 or 3 yards.
BPRT: What are some of your favorite things to do away from football?
JW: Away from football I play Madden and other video games. I play basketball and just go hang out with my friends.
