I got to see the set at Universal Studios when they were filming the original...
but what was really interesting... was one day while coming back from one of the first driving trips I ever had on Long Island... was actually passing the town of AMITYVILLE !!! then I passed CONEY ISLAND... and earlier, I went thru HICKSVILLE...
heck, for an Ohio kid... I thought all these were fictitious names...
