And don't even get me started about idiots who lease. We've gone through that over and over on here. |

Shell: $9 billion 3rd quarter profit (Link), up 70% from last year I guarantee that we could look up all the oil companies and find similar profits. I would like someone to explain how they aren't price gouging... I can't believe that individual gas stations can get fined/shut down for price gouging but nothing is done to "Big Oil" when they exponentially raise their prices. BTW, here's a link that shows the current wholesale price of unleaded gas... this is the price the supplier pays. For Ohio I have figured that if you add 50-55 cents for taxes and the few cents that the supplier and gas station add in for their profit that should be the price of regular unleaded gas at the pumps. As of this posting the wholesale price is $1.59 so pump prices should be $2.09-2.14... I just did a price lookup on www.columbusgasprices.com and gas prices are anywhere from $1.93 in Hilliard (Speedway at 1700 Hilliard-Rome Rd. for all you on the west side) to $2.49 in Upper Arlington... Median price looks to be around $2.25-2.35. |

I just got an email that said the national average is $2.48 a gallon.
We are at $2.63 which is unusual since we are normally below the average. Must be that pesky supply and demand. I was in Memphis, Mississippi and upper LA last week and I saw gas for $2.29 in Mississippi. I paid $2.35 the exit before I saw that price. They expect the slide to continue but folks that have to buy diesel or fuel oil are going to get killed this winter. |

It is $2.18 a gallon here. I was in Raleigh, NC on Monday and it was $2.69.

Filled up for $2.159 on the south side of Columbus yesterday. Same prices in the Westerville area, too.

$2.17 where I buy in Lancaster. 3/4 of a tank yesterday was an even $20. Four weeks ago I would have paid $30.
