The changes will be those that are self imposed like carpooling, packing a lunch, conservation, tuning our cars, not taking unnecessary trips, being fuel minded. Then we should move toward electing officials that do more than talk. Maybe even move closer to work (although that may be harder to do now). Oh, let's not forget mass transit, busses, trains and monorails. We could find a resurgence of interest in elevated monorails that would interconnect key businesses, airports, malls, and shopping. These thing will take some getting used to, a paradym shift needs to occur. Change starts with an idea and the will to do it.

Agreed. Like I mentioned before, there's two solutions to the problem, either change our energy source, or change our lifestyle. I believe, the latter is more likely to happen.

Does anybody here have a 'flex fuel' vehicle? One of the gas stations near my house just started selling E85 gas. Last night, it was $2.79/gal. I suppose it's relatively cheap due to the ethanol subsidies...

in columbus its 50 cents cheaper for e85.

What exactly is a "flex fuel" vehicle? I've never heard of such a thing.

This webiste is just loaded with information. E85 gets 20 to 30% less fuel economy (27% less energy per gallan). Flex fuel equiped cars can run on gasoline or E85. (There's a neat little calculator for ya'll to play with.) It's cheaper but you'll use more E85 to go the same distance.
