finally under $2 here. All stations I passed yesterday were at $1.98 or $1.97.

$2.25 a gallon at lunch today. You should have seen the lines at the station that still had it at $2.02.
I figure the higher prices are just in time for the 1,500 miles I get to drive in the next week. |

This thread still reminds me of a comic I saw long ago.
It showed a guy filling up his car in the 1970's with a look of shock at the $1.00 a gallon price tag. The next panel showed the same guy only in the 1980's with look of relief when the price was only $1.00 a gallon. Looks like that can be replaced with $2.00 today and probably $3.00 next year. I filled up for $1.97 a gallon this weekend. That is $0.19 more than I did a month ago, which was the last time I filled up. |

By the way, it's $2.17 here right now.

around $2.10 here. I did fill up for $2.04 earlier in the week but I fill up at least three times a week.

it would be interesting to hear what is the LOWEST anyone can ever remember paying for a gallon of gas. i can remember gas at 36 cents per gallon when i was a kid.
I was at a GM dealer earlier this winter, and was talking to the guy about hybrid SUVs. he said in 3 years GMC will have a hybrid Envoy. My Jeep (V8; full-time 4WD; 17 MPG) is paid off now and my 2nd car gets paid off in 3 years - i already know what I'm getting! There is an estimated 18 Billion barrels of oil in the region of ANWR which just got approved for exploration. This would be enough oil to equal EVERY DROP OF IMPORTED OPEC OIL FOR THE NEXT 30 YEARS! i think I can live with some Caribou being "disturbed" if we can tell OPEC to shove it. |

Remember when gas was REGULAR or ETHYL? I think I can remember gas at around 28-32 cents a gallon as I could just about fill my little Honda mini-bike for a quarter....
Still kicking around the car idea, still looking at the Scion and maybe the Hundai Assent both cheap with around 30 mpg. Last edited by NOTREDAMECHIEF; 03-18-2005 at 09:44 AM. |

I remember back in 1998 I bought gas for about 79 cents a gallon.

It will decrease our consumption at PEAK production of ANWR from 70% imported to 66% imported. The Gulf of Mexico production has more effect. A lot of people are messing with statistics on this thing. (lies, damned lies. . .) Still, I am for drilling just because it affects a miniscule part of ANWR and it will also keep the pipeline working, where otherwise the pipeline may economically become unfeasible, as production will drop. Any bit helps, but most of the bad statistics play is coming from spinning kids on this one. . . Last edited by kinch; 03-18-2005 at 01:03 PM. Reason: Changed "gallon" to "barrel" |

I sure am glad I filled up my tank on Wednesday evening when it was only $1.92 (never thought I would say that) as it is now between $2.14-$2.19 at the stations in and around Broadview Heights.
Perhaps it is time to start checking the bus routes into to Cleveland. ![]() |

The gas station by my house is at $2.24 for regular. I don't have a car, so I don't notice the direct impact. . .
It is pretty low here all things considered-- the midwest takes big hits with gas prices (compared to the prices of other goods). Whatever happened to the Geo Metro? (I loved seeing an add for the new hybrid Accord. It gets the same gas mileage as my 1986 Accord from high school. Wow are we making progress. . . ) |
